I had something similar with the wrist. I had a training camp and after 3 days I couldn't put any pressure on the wrist at all. Got it checked out and it was an overuse injury (I usually train 6 hours a week, not 6 hours a day for 5 days.) I iced it constantly and took the maximum dose of over the counter anti-inflammatories and I was able to compete on it 4 days later with it strapped up. I didn't use it in training and spent the last two days of camp doing conditioning.

Hope you get things sorted!

sounds REALLY similar
thanks for words of support

It's called "gymnast's wrist" and is from overuse...ice, resting , PT

definitely continue to follow up with the doctor, especially if the pain doesn't go away. You may want to look at using a Tiger Paw or something similar. DD has the same issue and using a Tiger Paw has really helped to lessen the stress on the wrist. Weigh the pros and cons about using a wrist support, because you may weaken the wrist buy using the support.
