I know most people are not super familiar with USAIGC, but if there is a judge who could answer a question I'd be most appreciative! I'm just trying to understand the scoring a little better. Thanks! :)

I always thought the judges could do either governing body. I'll be interested to learn from this thread

Yes! They do, we’ve seen several at USAIGC meets that we knew from JO meets. I just was hoping for the opinion of someone familiar with IGC, but I can give the rules to anyone if needed :)

IMG_4107.PNG Ok, this is my question (not trying to be elusive, sorry!): For IGC Silver bars, one SR is a cast 30 degrees above horizontal. Her cast on low bar is decent form (for Puma Jr lol) but not quite that high. Her high bar cast is rather sloppy, but well above the requirement. So is the low bar cast deducted for not being 30 degrees above? See how at the bottom it says "no minimum cast requirement...etc"? I guess I was also wondering if someone with IGC judging experience wanted to score it. She's IGC Bronze, but is being a Silver bars specialist (yeah!). She has 7 weeks to clean it up, and she claims it's already better than the video I have from last week, which I can share.

I think I get what you are asking. I don't have actual judging experience with Usaigc, but reading those rules, there is no amplitude deduction for a cast in the routine that is below requirement(like in JO optionals). As long as one cast in the routine meets the requirement. Xcel is judged this way too. I read the "those that achieve higher swing should be differentiated" to be like the dynamics deduction we have in JO to help differentiate between routines, which usually only means a tenth or so overall.

Thank you! That's how I was reading it too, but I'm not a judge or coach and I feel like interpreting the rules can be tricky.

I read it the same way... IGC, like Xcel, has an "A" cast... for IGC, as long as it is horizontal.
They only require the one higher cast (still an A... just 30° above horizontal, but higher is better).

Not a USAIGC judge, but I read it as you all did - casts throughout the routine do not receive amplitude deductions, however, if the Special Requirement is a cast 30 degrees above horizontal and you do NOT have a cast that high in the routine then you will not get the credit for the SR. You still get the "A" value part for the skill, but no SR.

For anyone curious...this is the low bar cast, which I don't think is 30 degrees above horizontal:

And this is the high bar, which is an archy adventure to get there and I know will incur all sorts of deductions for that lol, but it does meet the SR. I'm just proud of her for going from struggling L5 eight months ago to being confident enough to be competing giant-giant-flyaway :) She's certainly has some work to do to clean it up, but small victories, right?!

If I recall when DD did silver, she did kip cast freehip, fairly high cast close to that 110 degrees, on the low bar. She would also attempt cast to handstand on high bar. No one on the team scored well so I worry that the low cast was also deducted. Her season best was mid 8's

I think NY Dad have a good attempt but the angle should start at her shoulders which would show she is a bit further away. It’s a body shape issue, which I am sure her coaches are working on. I am still trying to wrap my mind around Puna Jr doing Giants. Wow!
Thanks! Good to know. And yes, me too! They certainly aren’t pretty yet, but she can do it! :)
