My daughter is in Level 3. She had all the skills for her bar routine in August/September. (They weren't pretty by any means, but she could do them.) She went through a growth spurt and lost her shoot through. A few months ensued with tears and frustration. Then one day she announced that they "figured it out." So, it turns out that she is doing some type of modification which leads to the slowest shoot through ever. (Like she literally looks like she is in slow motion.) I asked her about it and she said it is a "cheat" but that she can't do it the regular way because her legs are too long for her arms. (She swears she's not losing points because her leg doesn't touch the bar, but I can't imagine she isn't because it looks, well to be honest, weird.)
So... my question is- "Is this really a thing?" Can she really not do it because of her leg length in relation to her arm length?
Honestly, I don't care because if she's happy and thinks she's doing it, then I'm happy. And I know that this is one of those skills that will thankfully disappear next year. I will add that she is pretty leggy (her soccer coach calls her "baby giraffe") and she is not very naturally flexible.
