So after two years of injuries and training and will she or won't she test, Sophia successfully passed her HOPES compulsory and optional test in Vegas.

Comps were 36.5 (needed a 33) and Optionals were a 53.5 (needed a 49)

She broke her big toe mid january and her routines were modified to accomodate. She has more skills that she did not compete and maybe that is why she really was quite clean across the weekend. Like studying organic chemistry and taking a test on basic chemistry. She was happy, Coaches were happy and back to training this morning :-)

How wonderful that your kid is training at a place that cares about what is best for her and her path. Even with the injury Sophia might have had a chance at qualifying junior elite if her coaches wanted to push it. But instead she will kick butt at Hopes Championships this year, and on to junior elite next year. Plenty of time. Kudos to Sophia and her coaches!

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
