I have a brand new group of sort of "pre" pre-team kids. They are in the 6-7 age range and have been doing rec classes for at least a few months. They only meet 1 hour/week, so hardly any time at all, but I am hoping to at least touch on the most basic things to get them ready for our pre-team group in the months to come. I feel pretty good about 3 events, but vault, the event where they have probably had the least exposure, has me feeling a little stuck. We do not have a level 3 vault stack which is part of the problem. I know I can do hurdle drills and handstand work, but I'm looking for some other ideas so I don't fall back into the same thing each time we vault giving them the idea it's terribly boring and "easy."
We do have a set of trapezoid mats as well as a trainer table, 2 spring boards (1 small, 1 standard), and a tramp board. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
