I have a small kid that does yurchenko vaults ... I lowered the vault from 120 to 110 ... it works great. Do judges take off for lowering the vault table? I know it sounds like a dumb question I never thought they did but my boss wants her to vault on 120 even though she cant get on the table.

In JO no. How small is she? 110 seems a bit low for any size kid.

The lower entry will benefit the actual entry but remember the more height the higher the flip. I would say 120, maybe 115 although I have never yurchenkoed a kid on 115, I did have a Tsuk on 115 but she was about 3.5 feet tall at the time. :)

To me, the key phrase is 'it works great.' That's really all that matters in my mind. That is why the equipment is adjustable, so that you can fit it to different kids and needs. Since vault is judged on height and distance from the horse (and most judges won't take into account the size of the gymnast), it would always be a good idea to work towards a higher setting, but I wouldn't rush it. Good luck.

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
