WAG Beam Connection is this even allowed?

Yes, she switched from Aerial BHS to the BHS Aerial because she felt it was easier to keep her hips square in the back handspring and make the connection with the Aerial to get the bonus. I still find the scoring a little confusing for Level 9, but I can usually tell with the scores whether she...

WAG Beam Connection is this even allowed?

Not sure what you mean, but when she has had any kind of shift or wobble between the back handspring and the aerial she has not gotten credit for the connection, so I am having a hard time picturing switching legs between the connection?

WAG Beam Connection is this even allowed?

My daughter is a level 9 and does this series like the video shows (minus the extra aerial)

    Parents Favorite meet gift?

meet leos have been a consistent favorite since my daughter first started competing. We don't buy many practice leos because she gets several of these at meets and then regional and state meets. She has also gotten socks, color changing cups, t shirts, sweatshirts and a lightweight travel...

    WAG Level 9 tumbling passes

It sounds like your daughter is on track to have a great level 9 floor routine! Of the level 8 meets we attended last year there were a lot less 9.5 + floor routines at the beginning of the season, definitely more closer to the state meet. Yes! not sure she is ready for that yet, lol!

    WAG Level 9 tumbling passes

"Our gym has all girls do 2 passes at 8 and 9, and even several of our stronger 10s only do 2. Less room for deductions." That is interesting! Possibly less deductions, but requiring more difficult connections! She will be doing 3 passes for now as she only has one C + B pass ( Front 1...

    WAG Level 9 tumbling passes

Thank you for your reply! Yes, she will do whatever the coach decides. I am thinking it has to do with the connection bonus.

    WAG Level 9 tumbling passes

For those of you that have had a daughter compete level 9, how common is it to see someone compete two tumbling passes for floor at a meet versus three? My daughter competed three passes at level 8, but this year for 9 her coach is considering having her do two passes. She has her routine...

    WAG Tips for competing alone?

My DD competed alone all year this year and I have to say for the most part it wasn't too bad. At almost every meet that she competed at the gymnasts from the other teams as well as the coaches were extremely nice and encouraging. My girl is on the shy side and I think in some way it has...

    WAG Judge Scoring Help

The floor acro pass evaluations on the NAWGJ website are really eye-opening! I purchased the code of points, and yes it details all the deductions a gymnast can get, but I still find it a little confusing. Looking at these videos and seeing all the deductions taken on the tumbling passes, helps...

Parents Tearing up during practice and favoritism

This whole situation is very sad. I wish your daughter the best of luck with diving and volleyball. A lot of girls from our gym that have retired are now divers and really loving it!

Parents Easier, more difficult events L8 to L9

In our region it appears that we have the most scratches (especially early in competition season) in level 8 on vault and level 9 on bars. This lines up with my own daughter's experience too. She had a slow transition with flipping the vault last year for level 8. She is repeating 8 right now...

    Parents Back Injury Disapointment

I am not a medical professional, so I wont give any advice there. My daughter loves art and when she has been sidelined it has been a great outlet for her. There are lots of art tutorials online which could be a fun distraction. Or perhaps some other type of crafting project? My daughter...

    WAG Level 8 Floor

I am seeing a lot of posts about requirements and scoring. It looks like I am not alone in my confusion! I did purchase the code of points, and I think most of the deductions were likely form related, uncharacteristic pauses, etc.. Lots of room for growth for the second meet. I will just...

    WAG Level 8 Floor

My daughter had her first level 8 meet of the season and I am trying to figure out if there are some compositional deductions she might have received for her routine or a reduction in start value? (I always forget to look at the card for SV!) When making the routine she was preparing for level...

    Parents Hardest Skill To Acquire

Skills on bars have taken longer than the other events. Giants definitely took the longest so far. DD is currently working on bails and hasn't quite gotten them figured out yet so that might be right up there with giants.

Parents How Far are Your Average Meets?

Our optional gymnasts typically travel a little farther than the compulsory gymnasts. Optionals:1 local meet, 2- 3hour drive, 2 4-6 hour drive and one fly away meet. Compulsory: 1 local meet 2- 1hour drive 2- 2-2/12 hour drive and 1 bigger meet that is about a 4 hr drive.
