For Xcel silver floor, it seems like an aerial can be used to satisfy the flight skill pass. I am wondering whether it matters how the gymnast enters into the aerial. For example, does it matter if they have a running start, a short hurdle, or do a standing aerial? Does the entry into the aerial...
I started when I was three, which you would think would be an advantage, but I'm still a level 4 on bars, vault, and beam, and a level 5 on floor. I have always been a recreational gymnast, which was fun as a little kid, but once I got to third grade, I started wanting to get good. I wanted to...
Of course you have a chance. Having started gymnastics THIS YEAR and already at level 5 sounds like you're progressing pretty quickly. However, you are getting older and are going to hit puberty soon and are questioning whether or not you can follow your dreams, which means that you may be...
It may be true that they are better than you because they train more. This is a huge factor in how good they are and how hard they work. But it's also because they are younger, and (sorry little kids...) can be stupid. Which means that while you are dealing with fears, they try everything...
A lot of schools that have gymnastics teams also have clubs in which they open up the gym to, so that they can also use the facilities and so that those who are not able to make the team have an alternative. That's what the college by you has. What school is it??? Just wondering...
No, my school does not end at 5:30 (thank god!). My school is pretty far from both my house and the gym. We get out at 4:00 for elementary and middle school, and usually get home around 5:00 (still too late for practice) but for high school we will have to spend an extra half hour at school...
I get home from (private) school at 5:30. Team practice begins at 4:45 and if I wanted to compete (which I do!) I don't exactly know how I'd do this. Of course, I would talk to my coach but first I need to know whether this is actually reasonable. Of course I know that education comes first...
Honestly, I think it depends on what the kids want to do. If they would like to have 2 weeks off, let them! They deserve a break. But if they would enjoy working with the other gym, I don't see any harm in doing so.
It took me a long time to get over fear of mine as well. About 4 years or something. Eventually, falling on my back took up too much energy, and I just got over it recently.
It sounds like this is not the case with you. Do you have your round-off back handspring (or could you try it?). This...
I am not a team gymnast. I'm in a sort of Xcel program, except it's not affiliated with Xcel. So I do practice and condition at home when I have free time, since I only have limited hours a week to be at the gym. I don't mean that I would be trying new skills, but perfecting old skills so...
The rec girls are even allowed to wear t-shirts at our gym! But the team girls cannot wear shorts, tank tops, or even underwear (I think that's a little too far...). Only leotards.
Do you think it's safe to have equipment at home, and if so what equipment do you think is safe to have (beams, bars, trampolines)? And do you know anywhere that sells safe equipment on the less expensive side? Thank you!!
