WAG Re-training L4 skills when it's uptraining time?

I promise, I only let out my CGM side here. Thanks for bearing with me! They already separated out the old L3 girls at the gym by who is moving up and who is staying at L3. So the "new" L4's are training with the "new" L5's. But for some reason, the coach is having them go through all the...

    Parents Level 4 without kip?

Hi fellow chalk bucket parents and coaches I am new here and finally got up the nerve to post. I have a DD In a stars program that has all her level 4 skills but her kip. Is it your experience the gyms move them up to level 4 without it? Our gym does not have any other competing levels before...

    Parents Level 4 floor routine

What is the deduction for being ahead of music? My daughter had to pause for a bit for music to catch up because she went to quickly. She still did great after performing her first floor routine after getting off her back brace for stress fracture. She did not even know she was competing floor.

WAG COP Question: Split Angle Requirements L4 and L5

Hello, just wondering what the sissone and leap and straddle jump requirements for split angle on floor for L4 are. How about leaps on beam? How much does the requirement increase for L5? Where is the angle measured from? It is bottom of knee on forward leg to front of knee on back leg...

    WAG Level 4 bar question

Would they be able to use a pull over on low bar instead of a kip at competition and have coach spot kip on high bar? If so what sort of deductions would there be?

    Parents Level 4 boys awards

Hi. I'm a parent of a new gymnast that will be competing for the first time in a couple of weeks. He is 7, and level four. I was wondering how they do awards for his level, and any other insight some of you might have. I've heard several things... Achievement awards (blue ribbon for 9.0 and...

MAG New here with a young L4 boy

I've been lurking around reading old posts for a month or so, and I thought it was time I popped in and said hello. So... hi! For those with boys competing, what age did they start? I just have this awful feeling that we started my son too early, and I'm worried it will turn him off of...

WAG USAG Level 4 States NJ

Has anyone received the schedule yet for Level 4 States in NJ? In years past they are always posted online but that website doesn't appear to be maintained any longer (not within the past few months anyway). If anyone has heard anything can you please share? The suspense of not knowing is...

    Parents Front Handspring Vault L4

I have been following the "FHS-vault not clicking" and commenting as my daughter has struggled with this vault all season. Instead of hijacking the OP thread, I wanted to make some additional comments about DD's last meet! Recap-DD is 7 years old, just wrapped up her Level 4 season, now...

    Parents New Level 4 Scoring?

If you have a daughter competing the "new" Level 4, how has the scoring been where you live? My daughter had her first meet of the season today (she did "old" Level 4 last year with consistent AA's between 36-38+) and the judging was a complete shock to most of us parents. There were VERY few...

    WAG Judging level 4

We have our first meet next week but I have heard the judging is harsh at this level and the coaches have prepared us for it by scoring the girls. So my question is what has changed at this level( besides the new routines ) what are they looking for that is not there? I've heard it's rare to...

    Parents New L4/L5 social group

Because that what most members wanted, this group has been set to private (but you can join by asking a mod). There were a few members deleted because they had not responded to a thread asking to post within 3o days or be removed (most members felt most comfortable with this option). If for some...

Parents new level 4 beam mount for lefty

My DD is very confused on her beam mount for the new level 4 routine. She is a lefty and has always done the leg swing mount on the old levels by swinging her LEFT leg over the beam. However during practices of the new level 4 routine her coach is having all girls (left and right legged girls)...

    WAG Level 4 bar deductions

Can anybody help me find bar deductions for level 4? I'm having a hard time finding anything. DD has a pretty good kip, does straight arm most of the time, although her feet flex in the beginning of her glide and her legs can bend a little bit. Her squat on troubles me (of course I tell her it...

    Parents Parents of L4/5

Come check out the spot created just for you in the new social groups! The mod for the older group thought some regulars were missing so don't forget to look for the new one. Gymnasts welcome too of course! I look forward to meeting more of you! :)

MAG How to treat sore legs after splits in a young level 4?

This is the first time DS has complained about sore legs after working splits. I know it's the first of many times this is going to happen with soreness, injuries, etc. So for a newbie team parent what do I need to do for him? He has practice again tomorrow. DS was running and jumping and doing...

    Coaches high bar nerves (L4)

A L4 of mine who has all of her bar skills, recently is terrified of jumping to the high bar. (after a stand in coach dident catch her when she clearly dident have the time to catch the bar (she had her shoulders way to far over in her squat on) every time she comes to my bar to practice...

WAG Practice Level 5, Compete Level 4

My daughter competed old level 4 last year and moved up to the new level 4 this year. She almost has her kip, almost her double back hand spring, and absolutely loves the new routines. She probably falls within the middle 50% of her skills ability with the other girls, some skills better...

Coaches older L4 can not finish kip

I am having a issue with a older L4 gymnast (13 years old, about my same size) not being able to finish her kip. I have worked every drill under the sun with her for a long time! She is SO dang close but she just cant get on top of the bar! Any new drills or tips, PLEASE! I would HATE to scratch...

Parents LVL 4 / LVL 5 Combined group

Our gym just released the schedule for fall practice and they have combined lvl 4 and lvl 5 into one training group. Are the routines/skills that similar that it would make sense to have them practice together?
