We have a small group of older girls that will either be Level 6 or Platinum this year. Last year Level 6 was pretty similar to platinum so we thought it would be better to keep them together, and we were planning on doing L6. Now with the changes, we are debating on which way to go. It's...
We have not gotten our new Code of Points book yet....can someone let me know if level 6/7 kids can still do a normal front handspring onto a landing mat or if it has to be onto the mat stack now? If so, is the start value still a 10.0? Thanks!
Anyone know if we'll follow suit this year with the vault changes JO is introducing in the US, the yurchenko and tsuk timers? I think we were a year behind on the compulsory roll out, wondering if that's always the case.
Does anyone know what happens if a gymmie starts the season at Level 6 and scores well enough to qualify for state... then starts competing Level 7 but does not score well enough to qualify for state? Can she still compete at the Level 6 State meet?
I'm a little confused about the actual requirements for level 6 beam.
I've found the USAG requirements list:
1. One acro element from Group 5, 6 or 7 (Must start & finish on beam)
2.One leap/jump requiring 180° cross or side split (Isolated or in a series)
3.Min. of 360° turn on one foot...
Obviously I’m asking for a friend, and I know this has been discussed before, but is there any advantage to doing three tumbling passes in L6? A couple friends I’ve discussed this with already and I think it’s just asking for deductions. My friend is brand new to learning about optionals and I...
1) do all regions determine who qualifies for level 6 regionals base off percentage. Think our state got 14% last season. Determined by how many qualify for states.
2) why does level 6 use a % when most levels base regional qualifications off a score requirement?
What front and back tumbling passes are allowed in level 6?
Anything beyond RO BH BL?
What beyond FH FP? Can you compete a FT FT?
Daughter struggles on bars, so is repeating 6, but she does decent on floor and is looking for some new tumbling passes.
We are getting nowhere on bars. In our area only 1 gym has a great bars coach, but then only 3 of their 12 level 6 girls are good or above average for the area.
I know there is no magic bullet for improving bars. It's heavy conditioning, drills, strength and repetition.
What do you do if you...
So, DD's gym is changing up their program. They have decided to forego compulsories for Xcel as their route to Optionals. The current plan for my DD is XP to L7. She competed L4 with fair success last season. (Placed at every meet, podiumed at most). The gym will continue (at least for now)...
Hi all!
Short Stack just finished her Level 5 season. One of the coaches has strongly hinted that she will be moving up, although nothing is official.
I highly doubt that Short Stack will be moving up to L7. She is exactly the gymnast that L6 was designed for--good with the L5 skills but not...
Can someone who is more experienced please confirm if the following level 6 bar routine fulfills all the requirements?
Kip - squat on - jump to high high bar- kip- cast to 45 degrees- giant - flyaway
Thank you!
Level 6 Beam: So could a beam routine have a back walkover, not a back handspring? What skill value is a back walkover on beam? Would this routine meet requirements- BWO, backward roll, beat jump connected to sissone, full turn, cw bt? If that doesn't fulfil, if I replaced the full turn with a...
Just curious what level 6 & level 7 skills your gym requires.
Our level 6 compete:
Bars:
- Minimum: kip, cast, free hip, squat on to high bar, kip, cast, tuck fly
- Goal: handstands on high and low and layout fly
Floor:
- Minimum: ROBHBT & FHFT (tumbling) Leap to side leap (leaps)
- Goal...
we love dd's routine. it was chore'd by a gymnast who did a bid for a spot on the olympic team a while back. now she's qualified to judge up to level 10. it's a great routine. but dd consistently gets the lowest scores on floor in her meets. and on her team. she's mainly upper 8s but has...
so i don't know if my dd has had a growth spurt or what but she is having issues with landing her bars dismount/flyaway. when she first learned this past summer she was doing a tuck flyaway but her coach wanted them to do layout flyaways and she finally got it but had issues with landing it vs...
