How long should it take to clean up a ROBHS? My 6yo first started doing them unspotted this past June, and they still look really sloppy. I haven't seen much improvement at all since then. I'm guessing it all starts with his roundoff, as he doesn't seem to have much momentum coming out of it...
My DD first started training BHS about six weeks ago for the first time. She now has her standing BHS w/o a spot and a RO-bounce-BHS w/o a spot. She is having some fear about the connection, and feels it's taking her too long to learn. She asked me to post here asking how long it took other...
I can see that the problem starts with her hurdle. She lands her roundoff in a deep squat. She bends her legs and her arms in the back handspring. She undercuts. Basically everything is wrong with it. She is very flexible and has a gorgeous front and back walkover. This is a real problem...
My coach wants me to begin tumbling out of roundoffs (which I have never done) instead of roundoff back handspring.
I had some problems with chin throwing and not setting for the BT which are two issues I've never had when tumbling out of ROBHS- I think I'm throwing the back tuck like a back...
Hi! I'm not in gymnastics, I'm in cheerleading but I still wanted an answer from gymnasts or gymnastics coaches since I trust those more. So my elbow are hyperextended elbows and it's really bad. I've been working on my roundoff back handspring for two years and my coach has been telling me that...
Hi, I am a 29 year old female gymnast training recreational gymnastics three times per week (about nine hours). I have never done gymnastics as a kid and started adult classes three years ago. I have been learning standing back handspring for two years but I am still not able to do it. My shape...
I have my standing back handspring, but I desperately need help with my roundoff back handspring, because I need it to move to Level 4. I only need a slight spot, but I can't seem to connect it.
You might remember that I posted a few months ago about a girl I'm doing private lessons with. She is a cheerleader and wants to get her roundoff backhandspring. We fixed her roundoff which was crooked, we got her jumping and now she does a beautiful roundoff backhandspring...when I spot her...
Rumor has it DD got her ROBHS! Of course I wasn't there to see it :-( DD was so excited as she was determined to get it before she turned 7. Coach says it should be competition ready by the next meet! :-)
My problem is whenever i try to do a roundoff backhandspring I do a roundoff, take two jumps and do a backhandspring for some reason I can't only take one jump. Anyone have any tips?? And when i'm on the tumbletrack i can never do a straight roundoff. Any tips for that?
I'm stuck on this one.
I've got an athlete who has a fantastic standing backhandspring, and a workable roundoff, and a good snapdown.
She is absolutely. terrified. to do a snapdown backhandspring or a roundoff backhandspring. Her exact words are "I feel like I am going to die". She had a...
IJ is crazy right now. We were working RO stop BHS and the kid just threw it connected. It is a good thing she ways nothing because I was not ready for a connected BHS. I love it when they are learning skills like crazy!

We will warm up some ROBHS on tumble track before going to floor. I have had no problem with it and need no spot. But recently without my coach standing their like she was going to spot or one step back I just can't do it. Eveything is fine just when I jump back my brain make Amy body stop even...
DD has been making progress slowly but surely, and was finally able to do her ROBHS without a spot again today on the floor. She was so excited to tell me when she got home. Once they were fully staffed again in Dec, she started making progress again, and I also signed her up for 2 short private...
Sorry guys, I feel like I'm hijacking the forum! But last night, after a 2 week winter break, DD got her ROBHS! She connected them seamlessly, and I'm so proud! She's acting like it's no big deal and that it's natural she would get it....but I don't care!
Is there something magic about turning 6? All of a sudden she is learning skill after skill after being pretty stagnant for about 6 months. She's gone from not even being able to do even a bad bhs on trampoline to doing a really good looking ro bhs on the regular floor in a month. The progress...
OK, so...
My DD is 8 and a new level 4. She started pre team at the age of 6. She competed one L3 invitational meet this spring (was technically our 'off season') for fun and loved it.
DD is essentially brand new to her gym, again. See, we switched gyms in late fall and based upon original...
My little one is all over her RO BHS, hitting it well enough to be working on form corrections already. She nailed her font hip circle on her first try and keeps hitting it. I was honestly nervous to see if she would be able to transition from Level 3 to Level 4 by fall. It looks like it will...
OK friends - dont really know were to turn too. My DD of 10 is a level 6 gymnast, see has been doing gymnastics for over 6 years. This spring right before her second sectionals see lost her roundoff backhandspring back tuck. She still has not been able to get over the mental hurdle to get it...
