I have seen that it is usually recommended to learn a back handspring before a back tuck. What are the reasons and do they still apply to adults? More generally, does anyone have any recommendation on progressions for these two skills for adults (male in his 30s here)?
As an adult male even if...
I have my first EVER gymnastics competition (I will be competing level 8) in about 2.5 weeks. Can anyone watch this video of my roundoff back handspring back tuck and tell me what deductions I might receive for it and any tips on correcting my mistakes? This video was taken on my first day of...
Hi! Is cartwheel back tuck beam dismount CONNECTED considered an A or B skill?
I think separately they are two A's but if you connect does that make the overall dismount a B?
I need tips on how to fix a bad habit I have on my front tucks. I don’t set up at all in them and just kind of dive into them. I’ve done a few good ones every now and then but I keep on going back into that bad habit. So if anybody has any tips to help me they would be much appreciated!
I've been doing back tucks for a while now and i'm so mad at myself. I set really high and land it but i get bad scores because i don't tuck tight enough. I don't know why, because i'm not scared of anything about the skill, and if i ticked i would have it all on my own. I don't get it. Have any...
I’m really sad because I lost my standing back tuck. I did it for the first time in March (so two months ago). It’s my favorite skill, and I got so good at them that I started working them ON beam! But about a week ago they started becoming inconsistent. It seems that I’m severely undercutting...
I have been trying to do a round off back tuck for years but it’s always the same problem. I have trouble tucking and setting and I really need tips. I don’t have access to a trampoline
So I can do a standing backtuck on the trampoline. And one day I got my mattress out and tried to do my back tuck on there. I did it pretty well- I would jump up and then tuck, but I would land on my toes/knees/face. I had some fails where I landed on my neck. They didn’t hurt and I got up and...
Is there any drills I can do or things to think about if I want to set more in my front tuck? No matter how hard I try I always feel myself stretching into a set but then I throw my head towards the floor.
I have a Platinum gymnast who is struggling with finding a B in her beam routine. At this moment, we are not completely confident that her split leap will get B credit so we are trying to add a backup B to her routine. We’ve settled on a tuck jump 1/2, but my gymnast prefers doing it sideways...
My daughter just recently got a couple of new skills on beam; front tuck and back tuck off beam. Are both of these skills the same level of difficulty or is one harder than the other?
My daughter just came back from practice. She said, "I keep landing my ROBHBT on my knees." When I asked what her coach said, she said, "He told me it is because I keep closing my eyes! I think "keep your eyes open, keep your eyes open, but I just keep closing them." (By the way she is being...
I have my back tuck off the beam as my dismount, but it is long and not very high. When I jumped upwards in the past, I hit my head on the beam.
How do I improve my back tuck?
I have had my roundoff back handspring back tuck for about a year and a half now and have never been freaked out (about any gymnastics really). Last Thursday I bailed and fell on my back, but didn't hurt myself. After I fell, I did it again to make sure I wouldn't lose it. I didn't do it again...
I keep throwing my head and shoulders back in back tucks. Any tips on how to fix this? (PS-I do it correctly on the trampoline but once I get to floor it gets messed up)
So.. As of right now I am a rec gymnast ( 6 hours a week 3 days a week on Pre-Team and I started gymnastics in September 2016 and I have my ROBHS now! :D) And I am going to start competeting soon! Sooo, my coach said I defiantly can compete Xcel Silver. ( My mom was talking to her this is just...

Hi all,
I have my roundoff backhandspring backtuck, however I can't "set" and lad properly. My coaches say go back to tumble track, but it isn't helping. I have a video that I can PM if that would help. TIA.
Curious to what hand placement everyone learns in a standing back tuck. Do you put hands under knees (knee pits), on shins/knees or not grab anything? Is this the same as all your other skills?
