This is true on floor but what about the other events? Is a double tuck dismount the same as a double pike dismount on beam and bars? Which do you personally (gymnast, parent, coach...) like to see best?
Hello all :)
I'm working on my back tuck. I'm beginning by jumping off of a high mat onto a low mat. My spotter claims that they barely touch me, and I land the back tuck on my feet. I do a good job of not throwing my head back, rotating (I think), and committing to the tuck. However, after...
So what which be better? On beam DD has some choices on the beam routine. She needs a b jump so we are trying sissone/split jump and the sissone/ tuck jump with a 1/2 twist. Both the split jump and tuck with a 1/2 twist are bs. Here is the DD thoughts. She hates the split jump and honestly...
Hi! So I've been practicing my back tuck for a long time and I don't know what to do anymore. If I have rotation, I'm so close to the ground but if I I get enough height, I have no rotation. No one seems to be able to tell me what to do to combine both rotation and height. I mean there must be...
My daughter is competition ready on her double tuck and is close to being competition ready on her double pike. But she is still having trouble with her double fulls. I can see where the dynamics of the double tuck/pike is very different from double fulls. So I think being able to do one does...
Hi,
I am an adult gymnast trying to improve my front tuck height when jumping off an air mat. I can land on my feet most of the time but my low height does not allow me to progress to higher skills like front tuck half twist.
Could you suggest any conditioning exercises that I could do at home...
So my daughter was pulling up old videos and found a routine with Vanessa Atler where she did a front tuck half on beam. It was very cool, but I don't think I've seen anyone else do it. Does it just not have enough value or is it deceptively hard? Just curious since I technically know nothing...
I've been wanting to get my standing tuck for ages now but I just can't seem to get it right, I always bend my knees to much, so it's more like the start for a flick, and if I manage to do it without doing my legs wrong I do something else wrong, any tips?
So I've been having issues with my front tucks for a while... They were never good but now I need them to be near perfect if I want to move up.
I'm not sure what the problem is since on the tumble track I do them decent and on the rod floor they aren't bad. But on the floor it's erm, bum drop...
Okay I have been practicing my back tuck lately and just like my front tuck, I'm having a really hard time jumping high enough an having enough rotation at the same time. If I just high enough and almost don't rotate at all but if I do turn, by head is pretty low. All the exercises I've done...
I need some help!
I am doing private lessons with a high school gymnast who would like to compete a front handspring front tuck vault but i know nothing about this! What are the things that I should know to help her ? Are there any drills that I could have her do with me and/or at her high school...
My double pikes are perfect, nice and high and great form. My double tuck, not so much. Ugh I can't figure out why... Everyone I know is the other way around. My double tuck travels too much and I either land short or fly backwards... By am I doing this??
Can someone help?
DD is working back tuck back tuck for her level 10 beam series. She has nice back tucks, but is struggling to get the connection fast enough to count w/o swinging her arms. Does anybody have a video of this connected correctly? I looked on youtube, but I didn't see any. She likes to see...
Hi!
I did my very first back tuck yesterday on the 2nd and I didn't land it.. I think it's because I didn't let go of my legs quick enough. So when should I let go of my legs to land? Should I count to three or something while I am in the air? Any advice is completely appreciated! Thanks!
Hi all,
My daughters class has started doing back tuck and forward tuck drills on the trampoline (with a belt). Its the highlight of the day and they just love it! However, they haven't yet learned a back handspring yet. Will learning the back tuck first on trampoline make it harder or...
hehe im so happy! i went into the gym tonight, and i was determined to get my back tuck dismount, despite never trying it in my life :b so i got a couple spots and then i did it! off of the high beam! lol just so pumped right now. i just cant believe i have a new competition dismount! i have...
I got my front tuck! :D
well... I suppose it didn't technically count because it was off a block and onto a mini tramp... but coming from a background where we do gymnastics in a school gym with minimal equipment, I'm still really happy ;)
next step, onto floor :)
Okay so im getting sick of front tucks off of the beam (ugh sooo annoying.) so tonight in gym im starting a back tuck dismount :) so i was wondering if any of you EPIC people have any tips on how to do it?! thanks so much :) <3
