Hey all,
I was not very happy to receive the Xcel Updates recently, which had Xcel Silver now competing the same vault that JO Level 3 will be turning into in 2021. This is the descriptions of the two vaults allowed that I got in my updates email
Handspring over mat stack sideways
1/4-1/2 on...
Puma Jr has improved her awkward vault run quite a bit, but it still has a long way to go! One of her coaches suggested getting her a running coach, and I have tons of video of my kid obviously, but does anyone have any video or a really nice vault run so the running coach can see what it’s...
We have not gotten our new Code of Points book yet....can someone let me know if level 6/7 kids can still do a normal front handspring onto a landing mat or if it has to be onto the mat stack now? If so, is the start value still a 10.0? Thanks!
My dd has been working this vault on and off I think the plan is for her to compete it next season (level 8). I really didn’t know anything about this vault so I search this site for previous posts. I am now terrified! Is this vault really that dangerous? My dd was a very successful front...
Anyone know if we'll follow suit this year with the vault changes JO is introducing in the US, the yurchenko and tsuk timers? I think we were a year behind on the compulsory roll out, wondering if that's always the case.
I was just wondering which vault is considered a harder skill. The half on half off or front handspring twist? Our girls are doing the half on half off and girls from another gym at the same level are doing the handspring half twist.
Lily competed at her second HOPES qualifier a few weeks ago at the KPAC meet in North Carolina. Sadly, she did not qualify. She fell very badly on her vault and did not receive a score (according to her coaches she didn't receive a score because her feet were not the first thing to hit the mat)...
I recently noticed that my daughter - who just finished level 4 - seems not to keep her arms by her ears during the "flight" (?) phase of her tumbling and fhs vault. On vault, as soon as she raises her hands, they're sort of in a V and she never gets them by her ears as she flies towards and...
My daughter is level 7. She usually scores well on vault but at the last meet scored lower than she has been. I am not sure why? I can’t see where she got the deductions.
Anyone willing to take a look? Not sure if I should try posting it here?
How does the table height affects a FHS vault? I used to naively think that the setting was just based on the vaulter's height, but that doesn't seem to be the only factor. I ask because DD seems to think it's a major accomplishment when she's able to vault on a higher setting, but I don't...
My 6 year old L2 DD is having trouble with her vault, and from her coach's feedback it seems to have a lot to do with her run, but he didn't give me many suggestions on how to correct it. She doesn't seem to be running flat footed, but she takes super short little strides and has very little...
Where do you think she is getting the -.3 in deductions from?
I see -.1 for the small hop on landing and -.1 for the crossed feet in the air. But I'm not sure where they found the third tenth, any ideas?
My daughter is 5, on preteam, and on track to compete Level 3 next year. Her nemesis right now is the vault though because she is only about 40 pounds and it seems the spring board barely moves when she hits it. She hits it pretty hard and then does something I find hilarious, she goes stiff...
My son's coaches want the boys to throw their vault the very first time they hit the runway in competition. I have seen other gyms work progressions to get used to the apparatus and take many runs to warm up. My son is doing a kas this year and he can't get his body to do the entire vault the...
