I'm a new WAG fan and I'd like to preface this by apologizing if this is a dumb question or if it has already been explained. During the 2012 and 2016 Olympic cycles many women were performing the Amanar vault ( Yurchenko with 2.5 twists), but now the most difficult vaults I've seen most people...
Just curious what the deduction would be for having the vault table at 110 instead of 115 for Level 5? At this point my daughter's vault is significantly better at 110. She still has time to improve. And I know it is totally up to the coach. Mostly just curious if she might end up with a...
After watching USAG level 3 & 4 meets for 3 years I am still really confused about vault scoring: is it the average of 1st and 2nd vault or higher one?
Does it change for higher levels? Is USAIGC same?
Hi again! Now that Susie* can kip, her next hurdle is that vault table. Going from the level 3 flatback on a mat to the giant table is rough. Did anyone else watch their kids struggle with this? Is it just a time thing? Besides the table she also struggles with punching in general (on the floor...
(Hi all, I’m new here. Hopefully this will post correctly.)
I’m including a link to the video of my daughter’s coach giving her a spot on her vault -
The judge somehow didn’t notice the coach had spotted her, so didn’t give a deduction (score given was 8.6). Judge asked coach after if she...
Anyone know what the SV would be if a kiddo vaulted on a table lower than the required minimum? At our last meet I heard many parents commenting that their gyms may try to do this for states for the Yurchenko vaults for some of the teeny Level 6s to at least get them into the mid-8's if...
Hi everyone! My 8 year old daughter had a later start to gymnastics and just started Level 3 (pre-team) this year. She had only had 6 months of gymnastics prior to this, but she is strong, flexible and learns quickly. She was behind at the beginning of the year, but after 5 months has more or...
Hello all,
I got some fantastic advice here a while ago, so I'm hoping to be able to ask your thoughts on something new, if that's okay.
My daughter has a competition coming up in a week or so. We are in the UK and her birthday is 28th Dec. 2009. This means that although she has just turned 9...
I am a second-year level 9 who just started competing a front handspring front tuck vault, but I haven’t yet been able to land it in competition. My coaches say my form is usually correct and that the only way to get the hang of the landing is to practice the vault as many times as possible. I...
So my daughters level 1/2 coach just told her and the whole team to stop arm circling when punching the spring board on the vault. I've been told this coach has no clue what shes doing. Feedback anyone?
Don’t know if I’m in the right place to post this, but what are the judges looking for with the level 7 vault? My daughters coaches say it’s the run and punch, but my daughter is so small she’s not/can’t punch hard. Is everyone getting low 9’s high 8’s on the vault?
Can you compete a yurechenko entry without the flip at the end in xcel diamond? Haven't seen it done before, that's why I'm wondering if that's allowed
A few questions about these crazy new vaults: 1) which one is the hardest? My daughter is competing level 6 and has been working all 3 timers. It would appear that the tsuk timer is the easiest for her. They had a practice meet, and she did the front handspring timer. I have no clue if it...
Is it possible that a kid who is terrible at, and terrified of, the FHS vault might be much better at the Tsuk? And would said child be able predict this based on *very* early work on the Tsuk timer? Asking for, um, a friend. ;)
Hey! We are starting to work round off (half on) drill with a few of our girls.
What are the best/preferred hands? Placement ("T" shape, straight) and rotation (1/4, 1/2).
Any advise would be helpful!!
