My 7yo used to be able to do a back hip circle just fine, but over the last month she has started overdoing it. She accidentally goes around twice and can’t stop after just one rotation. Her coach thinks that her cast has become more powerful and that she just needs to lean back less and push down on the bar more. But those tips are not helping. Another problem is that the bars at each meet are a little different. Some are more bouncy and those cause the biggest issues for her. Does anyone have any ideas or have any similar experience with a back hip circle becoming worse over time?

Why does she need to stop after it? Why not just keep going into an undershoot?

She would love to but that skill is one level up from the level she’s competing this year. We are in New Zealand.

In that case, I'd probably tell her to keep her shoulders slightly more forward while coming down from the cast. This will slow her descent.
