Hi there, I am considering to save some money and buy used old set of Gymnova uneven bars (the red ones) instead of the newer white ones. I know the red ones are lower and require a set of feet to raise them to newer FIG standards.

I have seen pictures of them with both whiteish upright heads (not sure if that's the proper definition, but I mean the top parts of the uprights where the rails get connected), and red heads.

Do you guys know the difference between the two types of upright heads?

I am a bit concerned since I have never been a fan of Gymnova because of the plastics they use but in this case I am willing to go for the Gymnova UB, since they are more versatile and have a better cabling system compared to Spieth.

If, for some reason, the white heads tend to fail with age, I will definitely avoid that model.

I think I have also seen steel upright heads but less often.

Thanks!

We have gym nova sets, one of them has the white heads, we haven't had problems with them. The frame is quite old (can't remember exactly but 10 years minimum, However we haven't used the feet, we just raised the bars a bit.
The other one is an even older one we bought from another gym, that one is lower (maybe that's the model you are looking at) but I can't remember the heads right now. Can check when we go back on Friday.

Thanks!

AFAIK, red sets are all low and need specific feet to raise them to proper FIG height since they go as high as previous FIG measures (5 cm lower). Gymnova built a spare part which is expensive but since I am embedding them in mats I might as well place a 5 cm wooden board under the frame and it'll do its job without even being seen.

I can't really tell you for sure. In the pictures I see both have the white pieces.
The first picture ones are taller and they should be at FIG's height, the second ones are lower.
