Thanks.

DD is taking this week off. Honestly, I think she really does want to stay on team and I'm encouraging her to work through the anxiety. She even said today that she wants to go to practice on Tuesday and tomorrow she wants to go with me for her brother's first class. I still want her to take a week off. Her gym is closed on Thursday anyway because they are installing in-ground pits. She is so excited about it as her previous gym had pits.

I think she was (and still is) experiencing a lot of school anxiety that she feels she has to hide and it all pours at home and gym (her safe places). I'd fill pages just talking about all the worries she's had about things she's heard on the bus the past few weeks. She just started taking the bus to and from school a few weeks ago when my husband starting working at home. We used to have her bused to her little brother's daycare.

School is out on Friday and I think I will have a different kid. Her coaches are very supportive and understanding and one was even treated for anxiety during her gym career.

I can totally understand how this sport might be too much for her at the higher levels so I'm just trying to enjoy every cartwheel / handstand etc. that she does because it really could be done at any moment for her. But if she can work on the anxiety she will be fantastic I'm sure! The funny part is that she's a natural performer and just lights up when it comes time to perform, especially on floor.

I'll be sure to update after the first summer practice on 6/21! Send some positive vibes!
