That being said, DD's coach will video all the girls' routines at meets and go through them afterwards to look for deductions and areas to improve.

Do most coaches do this? Every girl, every routine? I have never seen a coach at any of our gyms video at meets, but have had occasions when coaches either didn't see routines or didn't know where deductions came from. Just curious if video taping is standard practice for some gyms.

No, our coaches are busy with other things. Mostly parents do the videography :)

I always remind DD that as long as she works hard and does her best- she is winning. ;) if your DD wants specifics on what she needs to do better I would ask her "what corrections does your coach give you all the time?" (in my DD's case it is generally more pointed toes or more chin up or whatever) When she tells you what they tell her, say "well work really hard on those!" I used this approach with my DD when she was younger - it had the benefit of forcing her to go to her coach not me (because what the heck do I know!!??) for corrections, and also forced her to really LISTEN, REMEMBER and THINK about what they were telling her. You know, helped the "in one ear out the other" thing. :)

Gosh no. Our coaches don't video...they don't have the time, honestly. Wish we had someone who did though.

Why not video her and have her look at her own video and evaluate things like her pointed toes, straight knees, posture, solid landings and so on.
This is a great idea. Sometimes Puma Jr thinks she "has" skills a little more solidly than they really are, so having her watch video without me saying a word helps her see what she needs to improve on without making her feel bad about herself. She has this hand signal (basically she makes circles with a thumbs up) that means "tape me". I don't get to watch much practice at all, but she learns a lot from what I do tape and likes to analyze herself. I always tell her that the only things she can control is how hard she works and how well she takes correction. Good luck! It sounds like she's off to a great start! :)

I know the coaches video every single girl's beam and floor, at least, and at least for the first 1-2 meets? I don't really pay much attention to that stuff. DD mentioned in passing that the coach had " gone over her video" last season - and I had to ask her what she meant. I haven't seen this at other gyms.

But it can be incredibly helpful for DD because, for example, she THINKS her split leap on beam is 180 degrees, when in fact, it is not! Lol!
