Hi, My DD is currently in Xcel Bronze (was supposed to be in silver this year but the silver team was full) I’ve recently noticed that the kids in Xcel bronze with my daughter are barely able to do a pullover and she can do a kip. 8 kids on my daughters team are doing: Pullover, Backhip Circle, Cast Away from bar. And my DD is doing: Kip, Double back hip circle, front hip circle, squat on (IN BRONZE!) We’ve talked to the gym and they have said they might move her up to DP level 3 but they’re not sure yet. I need help on what to do.

Sounds like Lv.3 is a good fit for her based on bars. Hope they are able to switch her if it really is a better fit. Maybe ask if they can expand on what "not sure yet" means- I wouldn't want to be stuck in a too-easy level (if that's truly the case- I don't have the full picture of course) with no roadmap towards a harder level. Is there no space? Will there be space? is she missing specific qualifications? are questions that come to mind.

I’m assuming she’s at least six and therefore eligible for silver/level 3?
Levels can definitely be frustrating. I’d ask for a coach meeting to clarify the plan for her and get direct answers for all your questions.
She’s 11, and they’re planning to test her to see if she has all the requirements for competitive (she does). We honestly might have to switch gyms because they have kept her in in Bronze since 2023!

Im just here to offer a bit of a reality check and to explain that current ability does not equal future ability. I expect a talented 7 to 8 year old to be able to do the routine you have mentioned. And the other gymnasts lack of ability to do a similar routine isn’t necessarily an indication that your daughter is exceptional. Exceptional at the age of 11 looks a lot different than double back hip circle and a kip.

Would this be her third year in bronze? At 11, I’d be looking for her to be able to move up or try to switch to DP if she has already done a couple years of bronze. Can you have her evaluated somewhere else at the same time as your gym is assessing her skills for level 3?
