If a gymnast qualified to L9 or L10 Regionals the year before and is repeating this year, do they automatically qualify to compete at regionals even if they don't get the regional qualifying score at the current state championship or any other pre-state meet?

No, they have to get a 34 AA at their State meet...you could petition in with an injury or "hardship" that renders you unable to compete at the State meet but there's no automatic free pass...

Thanks bookworm. That makes sense. I just heard from a few parents they believe once you qualify to regionals they get to go the next year regardless.

There are no automatic qualifiers but it also depends on your state and region for petitions. If your region qualifies based on percentage and not score then you may not petition to regionals. Also If you are granted a petition, you can do three events or less at the state meet.

And your petition usually has to be within a day or so of the State meet , if you didn't petition before...
