Any thoughts on this meet? It is at the Southpoint Hotel and the meet rates are $59 & $89/ night. That seems really cheap, is the hotel a dump? How far from the major resorts is the meet?

Tripadvisor says it is not bad, has high resort fees on top of room rates. It is south of the airport, unlike most Vegas hotels.

It is cheap, but there are lots of deals to be had in Vegas.

No, the hotel is okay--it's really far from the strip though, so you'll need a taxi to get anywhere. The free shuttles are always PACKED--just a warning. Meet is okay though.

Our gym goes every year! We really like the meet. Well run and lots and lots of competition for our girls. The hotel is nothing special and it is a long way from everything. The free shuttle is almost impossible to get be so many people are trying get on. Almost 2000 girls compete over 4 days.

I do recommend the meet itself with perhaps staying some where else.

We did that meet a few years ago. Night one the cab fare to the strip was double the cost of dinner. Night two we moved to the strip. Although the hotel was cheap and had larger rooms, it makes more sense to spend the cab fare once for the meet. I would suggest not staying any further that New York, NY hotel. (Lexur is too far away from center). These hotels are a football field or two long. Starting on the MGM side of the strip you can walk along the street easily. Don't forget to check out the free stuff.. Belagio fountains, Treasure Island pirate show out front and the Mirage volcanoes.

We usually stay in Henderson at the Townplace Suites (no smoke) and rent a car from Fox Rent a Car (cheap rates). We like having a car so we can come and go as we please.

Thanks for the replies. We are going and giving the host hotel info out. We also have a few families who will stay at the Bellagio or similar. Sounds like a fun weekend.

Hold on, hold on,,,,, I have been to that meet about 8 times. If you are going to pass out hotel information then do it at the GRANDVIEW, it is literally across the street (a side street, Labaron, not a main street, meaning the kids can WALK safely to the meet from there 1 block). The Grandview are condos WITH full kitchens and cost a whopping 89 a night, if you have one of the parents call and block a dozen or so rooms for your gym. They are very very clean and nice, have jacuzzi tubs in the master bedroom, yes in the bedroom.... Pro's are, your kids are not staying in a casino, and rooms do adjoin, entry way, with door A and B. We stay there every time and the kids love it because they all hang out in each others rooms. The parents love it because the KIDS ALL HANG OUT TOGETHER IN EACH OTHERS ROOMS.... HINT HINT. Cab to the strip is about $25,, big deal... Hope that helps...

I liked the host hotel. It's newer and very clean. I liked being off the beaten path. In fact, when my dd went to l7 nationals, we stayed at south Pointe again. Word of warning....breakfast is hard to come by on the day of the meet. Go early, or order room service the night before.

Coachp is spot on with Grandview. Suite, kitchen, bring your own food to stock up...

Grandview all the way!! Can't beat it!! You don't want the smoke and the crowd of the casino.

Plenty of Pro's and zero Con's. You won't regret it. I was very pleasantly surprised by the Grandview.
