Zero reason to do 6 if you have giants.
Do you think not being able to kip-cast-handstand is reason to do 6? DD's teammates all have cast-handstand-giants, but most cannot kip into it.

If you cannot connect a kip to a cast H stand then you cannot get into your giant (or at least perform a good giant out of it).Do you think not being able to kip-cast-handstand is reason to do 6? DD's teammates all have cast-handstand-giants, but most cannot kip into it.

This year our gym has 9 level 6's, (4 8yo, 2 9yo, 2 10yo, and 1 11yo) all of them are competing giants and bhs on beam. 4 are doing layouts and the rest will compete backtucks, everyone does fhs-ft as their second pass.
Curious why they're doing L6...those sound a lot like L7 routines to me (the 4 gymnasts with the layouts).
They all probably could compete 7, but we feel they will be more successful at 6. (they are still very new at competing) That being said, some of them will ready for 8 next year.Curious why they're doing L6...those sound a lot like L7 routines to me (the 4 gymnasts with the layouts).
Just trying to get a sense for what skills are seen the most. Thanks!
Isn't it funny the order that some get skills?! My DD is doing Xcel Gold this year and hoping to score out of 4/5 soon. Her biggest problem-the darn kip!!! But she's competing BHS on beam...strange! Lol glad I'm not the only one!My daughter was training bhs but not making it consistently. So she is now going to compete bwo. Ironically she can do giants on bars but still struggles with level 7 beam skills.
Busted! Hook line and sinker. Most have them, only exceptions compete them. We save those for L7.
