I’ve only once been lucky enough to be close enough to drive to regionals, and that’s when it was in my home state. I think this is already the case for many regions.
We are on the West Coast so, for us, drivable means <600 miles. This year regionals was 1600 miles away!

I’m confused by this comment, do gyms only choose meets within their region? We do two travel meets a year, both in random, different regions, and then the rest of our meets are in-state. A region re-shuffle would only potentially change the location for a regional meet, not other meets. Maybe other gyms handle meets differently? I just didn’t realize that was a thing.

No... however... depending on where you live and the time it is in season... Regions can influence things... especially if you are classified as a high scoring region and the region next door is classified as low scoring.

Our gym starts the season with a low-scoring travel meet every year and then 1-2 weeks off competition to refocus. Scores only go up from there and it’s very motivating for the girls. When they try new travel meets and find them to be too high-scoring, they never return.

It was tough when my daughter started there because we didn’t understand that it was all intentional.
