Pike on (uneven bars)

Hi,
My coach said that I should start working on pike ons soon. I don't really know much about them technically but how different are they from squat ons (in terms of difficulty) and do you have to cast a lot higher? My cast is only at barely horizontal now, so how can I work on getting it higher?
 
I got a pike on pretty easily, my best advice would be lean your shoulders over the bar a LOT. If you do that, your cast really won't need to be that powerful. Also, good pike flexibility definitely helps.
 
I'm sure they're the same difficulty as in value for points in comp., but pike flexibilty would be great for them. They're a "stepping stone" to sole circles.
