Hi, my son is a L6 gymnast...he competes as a 7 year old and this would be his first year to be able to go to regionals (Region 5). Some of the parents of older gymnasts have mentioned that in addition to a qualifying score, there is also an opportunity to qualify for the top 6 boys in each age category, regardless of score. I was wondering if this is this case....kind of hoping it is :) Has anyone had experience with this? Thanks!

It really depends on your state. Ours is score only at level 6.

Region 5 is score only for L6 - at least that's what it was last year. I think it was a 54.0.

We're new to this, but from talking to parents of older gymnasts I gather that our region has changed the qualifying process this year. This year each state has a specified number of qualifying spots for each level, and the top AA scores, regardless of age group, will qualify. I think I heard correctly that in previous years each age group was treated separately.
