I was just curious, and if this is not appropriate to ask feel free to take it down, but I had a question about the cost of leotards.
Over the years I have met many people from all parts of the country in gymnastics, and the varying costs sometimes are unbelievable. Why do some gyms charge so much for uniforms? Do some gyms pad the cost and keep the difference? This is a serious question, as I've recently met several people who paid over $1000 for a leotard and warm-up. We pay less than $400 for a very blinged-out leotard, warm-up and a bag. The leos are beautiful and the warm-ups are stylish, and we are paying the actual costs as if we ordered it ourselves (actually less, since the team gets special pricing and no shipping costs). Most pants for warm-ups are capris, basic cost of $30 in the GK catalog. I seriously wonder why the cost is so high? I just feel like the cost of uniforms should not be more than the actual cost of the leotard, and shipping and handling is usually free with team orders.
Any thoughts?
