WAG Vault - layout to flat back?

My daughter’s competing a handspring to flat back this year. I’ve noticed that the coach is also training them on a layout to flat back. Can anyone tell me the reason for this? The girls are not allowed to tuck their heads in the layout flat back and it can be scary to watch! Thanks

Layout flatback without ducking the head is one of my absolute favorite vault drills! It's great for teaching strong board contact, heel drive, overall body position, visual orientation, and more!
