Coaches Help understanding scoring in junior elite floor routine

I read that the FIG Code was being updated to reflect greater weight given to artistry this cycle than there has been in the past. This was to appease other countries who have been saying that the US keeps winning because they are more powerful and aren't showing as much artistry as they should...

Women Rule change possible reason- xcel nationals?

I understand it's been discussed, but as of right now, the Xcel Nationals is still an invitational. And I think you're right that it will only be the higher Xcel levels.

Video And for my next trick....

I will make my coach disappear! 😂 (My daughter did this today; so funny!)

Women Rule change possible reason- xcel nationals?

There is no USAG sponsored Xcel Nationals. The meet I think you're referring to is an invitational.

    Women Age Divisons

Every meet is different when it comes to age groups. They are determined by number of gymnasts that enter the meet.

Parents How many hours a week of practice is appropriate for 9 years old level 6

Your tone is a little attacking. I am merely stating how hours are determined: by level, not age. As a parent, you do whatever works for you and whatever the gym allows you to do.

Parents How do they learn the skills

Summer is usually focused on conditioning, drills, forms, and basics because leading into the season, they start putting routines together and a lot of time is spent on that. Every summer my daughter's gym goes back to basics and does more conditioning.

    Women Phasing out compulsories?

Level 5 is hard, but it is such a great level for getting ready for optionals. It's a shame that coaches/owners are skipping it because the scores tend to be lower. Because clear hips aren't required in Xcel lower levels, many gyms don't bother training it (the ones that keep girls on Xcel...

    Women Phasing out compulsories?

Compulsory routines are designed to build on skills each year, increasing in difficulty until level 5. They are pretty well designed and thought out, and a great building block for harder gymnastics. I will always promote compulsories.

    Women Phasing out compulsories?

It seems like that wouldn't matter until they want to move to level 5, then they would need a petition. And I think it means "any level."

    Women Phasing out compulsories?

well its a new rule, so there's no answer to if they've ever been denied.

    Women Phasing out compulsories?

I believe it is to discourage sandbagging at the Xcel level: girls who scored out of level 4 then stay in Gold for 2-3 years before moving to score out of level 5 (it happens, and IMO its so they can dominate at Gold or whatever Xcel level). I also think it is to discourage multiple state meets...

    Coaches competition leotard brands

We've used Ozone since 2017, and they are always cut small. I always recommend that the gymnasts get a leotard that is at least one size larger than the tank leotards they wear to practice. This year we had an issue with them being made incorrectly and the entire lot had to be re-made. The...
