I have been trying to do some research on Level 8 beam and I am still quite confused about the requirements. Here is the routine...
-Press handstand mount (held for 2 seconds)
-bhs-bhs
-switch leap
-full turn
-tuck jump flutter
-front tuck dismount
Would this routine be considered "up to level"...
Can anyone tell me how long a handstand needs to be held in a HS-BHS series? My kid is repeating 7 for what is left of this season after training for 8 all year (then getting injured), so she plans to compete a BHS-BHS that she had planned for 8, but will use a HS-BHS as a back up. I noticed...
I was told my daughter is being taught the incorrect way to do her beam dismount. I've been looking online to see if I can find this information but I'm just finding what the deductions are. Can someone please inform me the correct way Level 6 is supposed to dismount the beam?
So, as those who read my recent “Hello Old Friends” thread know, my DD is having a rough time in the gym. Not surprisingly, this translated into a rough first meet today. DD has been struggling (fear) with her beam connection — the same one she has competed for more than a year — which could be...
I have a few questions about level 8 beam. First, my dd does a needle in her routine and it’s terrible..not 180 at all. She wants to take it out but says she needs to replace it with a dif “balance or flexibility” skill, is this true? Also, the jump/leap series, do they need 2 connected jumps or...
I am an adult competitive gymnast competing xcel platinum. Normally I compete BWO-BWO, but my lower back has been having some issues. I tried switching to HS-BWO but I am very inconsistent landing the HS square enough to connect (don't even get me started on cartwheels). I was wondering, could I...
Hi, this is my first year as an xcel platinum gymnast, and i am confused about the requirements. can someone please tell he my routine meets the platinum beam requirements?
- scissors mount
- full turn
- cw cw connection
- twiddle jump split jump
- front tuck dismount
I am currently a xcel gold I sort of my back walkover back walkover on the beam. I was wondering if you can compete a back walkover back walkover on beam in xcel gold. I probably won’t but I was just wondering if you can.
thank you
How does the scoring work for level 7&8 for jumps and leaps on beam. I think (?) there is a requirement for a 180 jump or leap.
What if it is close to 180, but not quite? Say 160-170.
Do you not get credit for the requirement and lose a lot of points?
Or just get deducted a little for not...
I need some advice on how to not be scared of my backhandspring on high beam. I have had my bhs on the low beam consistently for a couple of weeks without any fear or failure, i am due to compete this skill next weekend and it's one of my requirements. When i get onto the high beam i feel like i...
So my kid has had a BHS-BHS on beam for a while now, competed it on level 7 for her last few meets before COVID. She has always hated a BWO on beam and has *never* competed it. She did a single BHS on L5 and L6 and then a BHS-BHS on L7. After they were allowed to return to gym, she was assigned...
My daughter is L7, repeating this year since she's had a mental block of backwards skills on high beam for a year and a half. Last time she did BHS successfully was L6 Regionals in April 2018. Since being back in the gym from Covid, she will do it on a lower stacked beam but terrified when...
Hey all! I am a level 8 gymnast, and having trouble with a beam series. Most girls do bhs bhs, but at the moment my back and shoulder flexibility is not allowing me to do that... basically anything out of a bhs is hard for me. I can do a back tuck bhs on beam, but my coaches don’t want me to do...
Hello everyone, I thought i would start a thread that is not talking about Covid-19 or sadly banned coaches. So here i am wondering what are typical routines done by 1st year level 10's? I do know that this can vary, i just thought it might be fun to actually talk gymnastics skill right now to...
Just for fun...
How do these connections compare, both in difficulty and value?
- BHS + LOSO
- front aerial + BHS
- side aerial + BHS
And what about these turns?
- leg up turn
- “regular” turn
- wolf turn
full, 1.5 and 2?
Can someone please help with improving split jump on beam? It's not flexibility, my daughter can do past 180 splits. She needs help with how to get more power, etc to allow her the time to get to a full split on the beam. Any technique tips would be greatly appreciated!
So I am training for level 9 and I have always struggled with back handspring series. Now it seems like most level 9 gymnasts seem to be competing bhs-bhs or bhs-back lay. I have seen in the rules that a "restricted d element" is allowed. Does that mean I can compete something like a front...
Hi everyone.
My DD has a Simone Biles purple beam for use at home. It rarely gets used because it is super slippery. The material is not suede, but more felt and even with bare feet, she feels it is too slick and doesn't use it. Since we are home (indefinitely at this point), I would like to...
My daughter is working on her back walkover on beam to train up for next season but she is scared of going backwards. Its a fair fear but she is nearly entirely doing it on her own, with a very very light spot and Im looking for ways to get over the fear. Any ideas?
