    Coaches Casting on Bars

I have a couple gymnasts that struggle with holding proper shaping to cast to horizontal. We drill for it every day we have bars yet their middle drops as soon as they start to cast. We work core religiously during conditioning. What are some new drills for shaping and over all strength to get...

    Parents Casting from a kip

Hello all! So my DD has a kip (well out of 5 try's she will make at least 3). They aren't 100% consistent, and they aren't always with straight arms. She cannot figure out how to cast out of her kip, and whenever she try's, she just falls forward. Does any one have any tips? Or how can she get...

Parents 7yo Level 2 Casting Mental Block

My daughter started gymnastics about a year ago and fell in love. She did so well in her rec classes and wanted to try out for team, so we let her. She was placed level 2, and is now experiencing a mental block with casting high. She says she is afraid, but was never afraid in her rec class to...

WAG Casting with long upper arms - techniques?

Hi crowd (particularly coaches, but parent anecdotes welcome!), This is a curiosity question (not coaching my child)... Are there particular techniques or considerations when teaching/perfecting casts to a gymnast with long arms, and particularly, long upper arms? For example, should she...

Parents Arm length and casting to handstand?

Weird question, but I noticed today that my 13 year old DD has super long arms...trying on jackets and the sleeves are all too short even though the size is right. ha ha. Does having long arms make it harder to get a cast to handstand on bars? She's struggling to get this skill and curious if...

    Coaches Kips and casting.

I've been drilling, spotting almost everything I can think to do to help my l4's connecting their cast out of their kip. They look amazing when I spot over and over and over. Once they are on their....ew! Help! Maybe it's fear but we've done handstands and had them bail over the bar.

    Parents Casting

I have seen some people talking about the casting height requirement for the higher levels. Is there one for L4 bars? And if so what is it? Thanks

    Casting

:confused: That's how I feel... I don;t have any idea why one of my girls just can't cast over 90 degrees !!! Is it fear ? She is leaning well over the bar ! Is she not strong enough ? Is there any "test" so make just to see if she is strong enough ? Could it be her legs ? Her legs...

Casting Requirements for L8 and Deductions?

Is there a judge or coach that knows what the cast requirements are for all handstands in the bar routine for L8? Also what is the deduction? Thanks!

Parents Finally over Fear of CASTING :)

:D:DWell, it finally happened. DD is over her fear of casting! WOOHOO! Tonight at practice she got up and kip/cast/hs/over and did it repeatedly :) She said it was so much fun that she wanted to get up and do it again. Best thing is, she did it with great form and very minimal bending in arms. I...

    Coaches Casting Drills

My level fives are getting killed on bars because they are missing the cast requirement out of the front hip circle and on the high bar. We do tons of casting drills, mainly drills that involve doing many casts in a row, but they just can't seem to get it. Are there any casting drills that have...

    Casting Help

I've been trying to get my cast to horizontal. I pike around the bar more, swing my feet back harder, and condition with push-ups, planks, and hollow-ups. So far, my efforts have got me a straight body in a low cast and bruised hips. There's no foam pit under the bar so maybe being scared too...
