Does anyone know the outcome of the proposed change to the MD USAG compulsory season? I thought they had voted for the change over the summer but have heard rumors that it is still being discussed.
Well, despite the crazy weather this weekend, we made the trip to DD's state meet. It went pretty well. For the first time this season, she scored above 9 on three out of four events! Beam was still her roughest event, but not a bad first time at state, I guess. :) She scored 9.225 on floor...
This may have been asked before, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
What do you consider to be "normal" or "ideal" practice amounts for compulsory gymnasts? And/or how many hours do the compulsory kids at your gym work out? Does anyone have confirmation that some gyms really do train...
Can anyone tell me the deduction on floor for being off from the music? DD got ahead of music in today's meet (she had to wait several seconds before starting her final tumbling pass), and I'm just curious how much that impacts the score.
Our gym defines itself as an optional level gym. We have a large optional team for our area and our optional girls do well with some going on to college gymnastics. Here is my question - our first comp year is Level 4 and our girls don't compare well with other gyms. I don't think this bothers...
I want to find the music I used to use when I competed! It was the music that was used directly before the switch to the current music. Just wondering if anyone knew where I could find it. I found one video on youtube that had the old level 5 routines with the music, but I can't find the level 6...
I am from Canada, so I am just curious about splits being included in the floor routines for L4, L5, and L6. Our club is going to the US for a meet next year and lots of our girls that will be compulsory levels, don't have splits all the way down, some aren't even close.
What about those girls...
Does anyone remember if the Level 10 and Elite compulsories were the same in or around the cycle that ended in 1996? I was a Level 9 at that time and was just curious. If they were different what skills were in the Level 10 Bars routine and what was the compulsory vault for Level 10?
Thanks...
Can you compete prep op and compulsory in the same season? My DD needs to score out of 6 to move to optionals so we were thinking she could do one meet during the year at level 6 while doing prep op.
Inspired by amberdezi's post. I only included the major skills (they were all that would fit!).
This all depends on the gymnast's strengths and weaknesses, of course, but I'd like to see what people vote :)
What is the deduction if the gymnast when doing the splits in L4-6 floor routines, touches her hand down on the ground when it shouldn't be? For example, my daughter's most recent meet, she said she touched so she wouldn't fall over. Is that a fall? Just wondering because floor is her hardest...
I have heard people say that being a good compulsory gymnast does not neccesarily mean that you will be a good optional gymnast. Can someone please explain why that is? Thank you!
Little Monkey was all pumped up for States. She has been working really hard with the coaches, tweaking everything, etc. She has been absorbing their lessons like a little sponge. That's why today was such a sad ending to an otherwise awesome season!
We had an 11:30am report time, so I...
Level 3 states were last night and I have to say it was a great experience. The venue was very nice and the meet was run very well I thought. 62 girls competing level 3, 19 in Midget's group.
If you recall I had asked for vault and bar fairies and a good thing too. Guess what our first 2...
The USAG boys compulsory vaults are as follows:
Level 4: Straight jump from a springboard to a mat
Level 5: Front tuck from a springboard to a mat.
Level 6: Front handspring
Level 7: Yamashi ta (there isn't supposed to be a space there, but the swear filter on the forums doesn't like the...
Anyone have anything they do with (especially to get new level 5s swinging) but compulsories in general after they finish their turn? i.e. something they can do in line or on supplementary equipment without spot. I'd like some new ones. Anything really, body positioning or exercises are good too.
I'm gathering some ammunition to bring to our state board in the next two weeks as they begin organizing our State Championship. I would like to ask four questions:
1) On average, about how many places out does your state recognize at State Championships? (examples: Top 3 only, or 50% of the...
Has anyone every bought the Womens JO Compulsory Program DVD 2005-2013? It show the routines from each level. Just wondering if this would be visual help for my dd.
Who has heard it yet? I really want to but I don't know where to find it. Even though I wont be using it, im just curious. Who ever has heard it, what is your opinoin? Better then the last four years, or worse?
(I've been posting alot of posts lately haha, sorry :P )
