Parents Judges : do they and can they hate your child and give them bad scores?

there is a judge in pa, that everytime she judges my DD, she gives her the lowest scores! i swear she either hates my DD or is judging her poorly because of the way I look. I am gothic and have some facial piercings (not all out like some people though). Last season she did her floor routine...

    WAG Becoming a Judge

So this will be my last year competing. I've coached a bit (lots of recreational and a bit of team) I'm very interested in judging next year, I just have no idea how to go about it! First I should get the Code of Points right? Or not? How does this work? I'd like to start with just being...

WAG Judges Cup, how close to State?

Hello all, We just finished our Judges Cup this Sunday and there were about 20 gyms competed in Lv2 about 200 gymnast (give or take). My dd had a good day, she finished 2 first and 2 second and 1st all around with 37.35. This is her first year competing as a lv2 and is 6 years old. Now, with...

    WAG Coach/Judge Parent/Judge

My question is: Can a USAG judge judge a meet where her own gymnasts are competing and her own daughter? Meaning she would be judging her own team and her own daughter. If it isn't, how do you go about reporting this type of thing because it is clearly unfair.

WAG Judging MAGA or High School

Okay so this might be a stretch, but I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who is a judge in the MAGA program (Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association)? I am interested learning how to judge but I have no clue how to get into that. I am a high school coach and I think it would help...

WAG What do judges look for in a Level 7/8 USAG floor and beam routine?

Hello, I understand they (judges) are looking for precision and tightness. Maybe they are looking for what they see in the Olympics, but I want to understand why when you look at a gymnast doing a routine that looks very good yet, gets a low score. Are they looking for complicated movements...

WAG Can someone judge my dd's last floor routine?

Hi! My dd is a level 3 and is scoring lower on her floor routines so far this year compared to last year. Yes, I know they are much different routines, etc. but I would love some feedback other than from her coaches. Let me know and I will PM it to you. Thanks!

Parents First Meet of the Year - Tonight - Judges Cup

My DD has her first meet of the year this evening! I am nervous for her because she wants to make the national judges cup team for our state. Last year it only took a 35.6 or so AA to make the team. They take the top 5 or 6 from the state to nationals. I don't think some of the larger gyms...

    WAG Judging level 4

We have our first meet next week but I have heard the judging is harsh at this level and the coaches have prepared us for it by scoring the girls. So my question is what has changed at this level( besides the new routines ) what are they looking for that is not there? I've heard it's rare to...

WAG Walking in front of the judges

I had a friend tell me this weekend that a gymnast received a deduction for exiting an event the wrong way and walking in front of the judges' table. Is this actually a deduction? If so, how much?

    WAG Partial Judges ??

I have always heard from people at meets that judges are partial to bigger gyms.... Well, at this last meet I saw a perfect example that really made me wonder if this is true. My DD vaulted... didn't do terrible, but didn't do wonderful, she scored 8.20. The girl that vaulted right behind...

    WAG Judges?

To any of the judges out there, please tell me it gets easier. I have just started an online judging course for our Canadian system (modified FIG rules) and trying to memorize all these symbols seems impossible as of right now. Any judges out there have any tips of how to memorize them and once...

Parents Judging the front handspring vault

Is there different criteria for judging and scoring the front handspring vault based in the level where it is competed? Meaning, if a gymnast competes her vault, will this exact same vault receive a different score based in whether she is a level 4, 5, 6, or 7 (I believe all have a 10.0 start...

WAG The Level 4/5 Judging Exam

How is this? I'm debating on taking it during labor day at GAT since my work is already sending me and they said they'll pay for my testing too. What is the best way to get prepared for it and what should I expect?

    Rhythmic Gymnastics Judging

Did anyone see the article about the Rhythmic judging issues? I wonder how that is going to impact the sport in the US?

    WAG Was this judge unethical?

First and foremost, I am a mom of a gymnast. I was asked to start judging a year ago when my daughter became an optional gymnast. I went for it :) The plan has been for me to judge compulsories. The gym my daughter is at has been having trouble for years with coaches leaving, gymnasts leaving...

    Coaches Judging in Arizona

Hey there! For this upcoming season, I am hoping to get my judging certification so I can judge girls compulsory. I'm not really sure where to start, though. I live in Arizona, and I can't seem to find the information I need on the USA Gymnastics webpage. Do any of y'all know what I should be doing?

Coaches JUDGES/Coaches: L6 Beam deductions questions

I have several gymnasts trying to score out of current Level 6 this weekend. One is struggling with some mental stuff on beam. Just to reassure everyone, I would NOT move this girl up to Optional without the appropriate skills on EVERY event, however, step one of having the opportunity to even...

Parents how to perform for the judges?

My DD is really moving along nicely in her first year of level 9. Well at practice and warmups anyway. Does anyone have advice to help her compete the same way she practices? She is not typically a high scorer, mid 30's. But she is pretty consistent on all events. This year though she warm...

WAG I got to meet our favorite jaw dropping judge!

It's my new favorite gym related photo! She was judging at the Woga Classic last weekend, and was incredibly nice and gracious. When I approached her for the photo and we looked around for spot to take it I said "You know, when I saw that vault, my jaw dropped too. You mind if we pose like...
