Parents Level 4 floor score ? Judges

Hello! My daughter is a new Level 4 this season. She is having a mental block after falling at practice and has "lost" her round off back handspring. So in competition this week she did a round off , stopped and then did 2 separate standing back handsprings with no connection. (For what it's...

WAG Question for judges re: USAIGC floor routines

I was hoping to get some opinions from judges (and coaches too) who are familiar with the requirements for USAIGC Silver level floor routines. Recently, my daughter was given a new Silver floor routine. She’s very happy with the music and the choreography. However, I do have a question. Of...

    Coaches Judge help

I've been told there is a place where you can upload a gymnast's routine and have an online judge tell you their deductions. However, I've looked and see no such thing. My gym owners refuse to do mock meets and won't send us to seminars. It's frustrating when you're coaching to the best of your...

    WAG Testing for Compulsory Judging

I'm planning on testing to become a judge either in late fall or early spring....possibly. I'm just wondering any advice on studying for the test? Several people mentioned they made flash cards, what specifically did you make the flash cards for? How did you go about studying? You need to know...

    Judging

Any judges out there? I'm interested in doing a Women's Artistic Club Judging course- I thought it may be really useful for preparing for club grades next year? Anyone been on the club judging course? If so how hard is it? Do you need much judging experience to have a chance of passing?

WAG Is there a way to ask a judge a question?

I have a specific question about something in a compulsory routine (L3 floor) that I'm curious if it would have been a deduction. I posted here as "Question for judges" and didn't get any takers, so I'm wondering, does anyone know if there is a site or anything where you can email, and...

WAG approaching judges table after final salute

I've been watching some you tube videos and noticed that sometimes gymnasts go stand at the judges table after they perform. I never noticed anyone doing that in my daughter's competitions last year (our first year)…they would do their final salute and then just walk back to join their team...

WAG Question for judges re: left/righty consistency

In another thread, it was said that there is a deduction if they don't stick with the same side throughout floor and beam routines. So, if she is going to split left, she has to leap left, cartwheel left, and back kickover/walkover left. My DD does cartwheels and roundoffs lefty, but BWO...

WAG Will judges watch video if they miss something during the routine?

In a thread in the parent forum about videotaping meets, someone mentioned that they videotape the whole team in case the judge misses something in their routine. Will judges actually watch a video of a routine if the judge says the gymnast didn't do xyz and the coach says they did? I'm...

WAG Judging a gym by number of injuries

Should you judge a gym by the number of injured athletes it has? What is considered average? When should a red flag be raised?

WAG Question for judges about floor music.

There is some debate about what kind of floor music is good for little girls, say 10 and under. Do the judges 'like' very young sounding music like sparkles and stuff? Is 11 and up considered to be ok for a more mature piece? Picking the right music is so important, what should go into it...

WAG Switching fm Xcel to JO. How does the judging/scoring differ?

Dd was in Xcel as of last season and will now be on the JO side of the house. I really didn't know what Xcel was and kinda had to learn along the way (we came from R5 and dd's old gym doesn't do Xcel). She competed Silver this season. And I found out Wednesday that she'll be scoring out of 4...

WAG Judges? Can someone comment on the L3 floor routine?

I know it's only level 3, and it doesn't matter in the long run, but I'm just curious. A week ago DD had a meet and scored 9.5 on this floor routine: Then this weekend she had States, and got 8.6: I know she was nervous, because it's States. And she was upset, because they started on beam...

    WAG Judging Attire

Anyone have any suggestions for what to wear judging when we were told we do not need to wear our uniform, because it is just a fun meet. We were only told we can dress casual, but keep it professional (not too much skin). Any suggestions, even if your not a judge. Keep in mind that I have your...

WAG Are there any judges on here?

I'm writing a parent guide and I think it would be great to include a little section on what judges want you to know . . . If you are a judge and you had an opportunity to communicate some things to parents what would you want them to know or keep in mind? Thanks

WAG How many gymnasts can a one panel judge reasonably hold, in 4 hours?

We are having a local USAG sanctioned meet, want to get as many girls to compete as possible. But, because of our gym circumstances, we only have 4 hours to do it. All are level 4s.
