Looking to get some opinions from others. We currently have a daughter that scored out of level 7 in VA however we as parents know she is not ready for level 8 at this point. We are looking to another year preparing for level 8, as she is only 9 years old. We have a difference of opinions...
The Idaho State website states that Region 2 is toying with the idea of having an actually L7 regional next year instead of an invitational. Does anyone out there know if this is going to happen or at least the time frame for letting the states know this is happening?
I am no a gymnast myself, although I was involved several years as a kid and my little sister is doing it.
Just out of curiosity (I am studying sports science and recently started being really interested in gymnastics!) I have a question.
There is a gymnast with these routines, not aiming for...

New group created, if you want in post message the group mod @GYM0M
Will be looking for a mod for the group too.
Please make sure you are not a "I want my dd to be a L6/7" parent, this group is for competing gymnasts at that level. LOts of groups for compulsories already.
My daughter competed level 7 for the 2nd time, she finished her season with a 37.4 all around score at regionals. Her birthday is in January and she finally became a teenager(13) She has been feeling really insecure about her age and level, and that she is too old. She is definitely going 8 next...
DD is training L7 and I'm a bit confused by what her coach is doing with her. She has not started choreographing her floor routine yet (DD knows the music she wants to use, but the coach hasn't given final approval), but she is working L7 skills. So far, DD has mastered the following skills...
I can't remeber which book it was, but last week when I had some spare time in the city I went into a store which had a lot of sport stuff. There was a book with many interesting facts about gymnastics.
There was an interview with an American gymnastics coach who coached many high level...
DD who just finished her L7 season came home from the gym the other day with video below on her ipad. I am not surprised by a lot she does anymore but this one left me with my mouth hanging open:
Which regions have a level 7 regional where the girls have to qualify in some way to go? I can tell from a previous post that region 8 does. Region two has an invitational that is open to all L7 but is contemplating a "real" regional next year?
What do the rest of the regions do?
Just wondering if there are any other families out there who have gymnasts who will be on the Top 8 team for their state for region 8. Our daughter will be representing Team Florida in NC on April 25th. Just wanted to see if there were any others out there. She is the youngest on our team from...
Can a toe circle be done in a L7 bar routine? Is it considered a skill/element? Or is it just something to do in lieu of a squat on before jumping to the high bar?
DD loves doing toe circles, so I was just wondering.
Thanks!
This a bit of a brag but I continue to be amazed by the stuff my 8 year old DD does at the gym. I knew she had been working some up-skills but i wasn't expecting this:
It is pretty cool though.
During conversation with a parent at a recent meet, she brought up something that never crossed my mind as a possibility.
At her DD's gym, they recently moved up a couple level 4's to level 7. The girls competed one last level 4 meet and the following meet they competed level 7. One girl...
My DD (9) just moved to L5 at the beginning of the year. Her coach told me today she wants to move her to L7 (she's been uptraining a lot since she already has all her L5 skills clean) but she's not strong enough yet for bars. Her plan, from what I got from her (there is a bit of a language...
how large is the deduction if you fall out of the 1 1/2 turn on floor? My DD did this yesterday at her meet and her coach said it was probably .3 in deductions (since she stepped back instead of forward out of the turn). It didn't lower her start value though. Just curious!
Coaches-just out of curiosity, since the level changes and level 6 is no longer required, what do you use to determine whether a gymnast will move up to level 6 or level 7? If skills, please be specific.....
My DD is competing L7 and her floor routine has 3 tumbling passes (FHS-FT, FHS-FP, RO-BHS-LO). I seen other routines at our meets with only 2 passes, so I'm curious what the coaches on the board think. On the one hand...it offers more opportunities for deductions. On the other hand...I don't...
