Women What do judges look for in a Level 7/8 USAG floor and beam routine?

Hello, I understand they (judges) are looking for precision and tightness. Maybe they are looking for what they see in the Olympics, but I want to understand why when you look at a gymnast doing a routine that looks very good yet, gets a low score. Are they looking for complicated movements...

Women Required Strength for USAG Level 7?

Hi, So I got two questions. I am not from the US, I come from Austria and we have very very very poor possibilities to train gymnastics here. We only have 2 gyms in the whole country that have uneven bars and the 2 best gymnasts of Austria + are probably a Level 9 USAG! My little sister who...

Women Start value of a old level 6 routine done in Level 7

Just wondering what the start value would be for a kid who did a very nice level 6 (old) bar routine. Casts to handstand or close and free hip to at least horizontal. I can't seem to figure out if the baby giant is an actual skill with a value :)

    Parents Level 7...what to expect?

Can anyone give me an idea on what to expect as the father of a new level 7 gymnast? My DD just had her first meet of the year and competed in the "new" level 4 and the "new" level 5 in consecutive sessions. She scored 37.575 and 37.050 respectively in those two sessions. She will skip level 6...

    Women USAG Level 7 Regionals?

We got our team's schedule for the upcoming season and it shows on there a level 7/8 regionals. Anyone else's region having the 7's included this year? We are new to optionals, but I have not been aware of this being a typical level for regionals.

Hi! This summer I remember reading that one of the mom's was going to start a group for parents of kids who will be doing level 7 this year. At the time, the coaches hadn't yet affirmatively stated my daughter would be doing level 7 so I didn't want to jump the gun and join. The coaches...

How big is the difference between level 7 and level 8? My dd completed level 6 last season, but has been training with the level 8 group. The HC wants her to compete level 8. She is ready on bars and beam and working yurchenkos on vault. Not sure if she is working the proper skills on floor...

Women What tends to be the largest age group for level 7?

DD will be 11 when competition season starts in Dec. I was wondering if that puts her right in the thick of things with large/many age groups around that age or a bit on the younger side? Last year she was either in the second youngest group or the youngest group depending on the size of the...

Women Level 7 vault for next year?

Since next year, L5 will be 4, L6 will be 5, and there will be that new 6 (like a current 6.5 or pre-L7), I am assuming they will all have that same vault, and I can't imagine the gymnasts will do that for a 4th year on L7 after the 2013 changes. Does anyone know what it will be... My dd...
