So my son is a first-year level seven. He is 11 years old but after the age change they make him compete as a 12 year old. Therefore when he becomes an level eight next year as a 13 year old it is my understanding that he will be too old to qualify for Nationals. I think he could qualify for...
What is the penalty for not having a side element in your beam routine? Yesterday dd did double BHS, her turns & leaps, and then a front pike dismount off the end of the beam. She used to do a roundoff BHS or BLO dismount. Her score seemed low for the performance and then I realized she didn’t...
I have an athlete who is struggling with her handspring handspring connection, but can pull off back tuck into back hand and 2 fluid back tucks. What actually qualifies as a series of these, if any? Looking for constructive feedback!

Question (that I may probably already know the answer)...
If a kiddo starts to struggle on the biggie: BARS (and maybe a little vault), does this ever truly get any better? If a kid isn't truly able to connect a full level 8 bar routine a couple meets into the season, isn't this concerning...
I have a question about one of my level 8's in USAG. She struggles to do a cast handstand pirouette, but EVERYONE seems to be doing that in their routines. Can she do a bail (high to low), straddle back (high to low), or a toe hect (low to high) instead of this pirouette?
Can someone tell me what a B skill "with flight" would be on bars? (I'm assuming a turn is a pirouette?)
1 Element (minimum of “B”) with flight (the mount is ok) or turn (cannot be the mount or dismount)
Thanks!
Yesterday, my 11-year-old son's coach talked to him about doing Technical Sequences and competing as a Level 8 Junior Elite. My son is not always the best at explaining things, and I know my partner and I will have a chance to talk to the coach soon and ask him questions, but I'd love an...
Last level 8 question. I’m trying to figure out start values so we can start to put together my routines on each event.
So if anyone can figure out what my start values on each event would be, that would be really helpful!!!

Tuck Tsuk
or
Pike Tsuk
UB:

How bad would it kill a score to not have giants on bars, but have really clean clear hips or uprises instead? I have competed L7 successfully without giants, scoring high 8s and low 9s, but i don’t know how bad it would kill my score in L8. This would be the my L8 bar routine without giants...
Hey there!
In a pretty competitive state. I have been hearing some pretty tough skills will be required for L8.... anything official coming out of USAG? Ive looked around and can't find anything......so this is what I've been hearing.
Beam, switch connected to BT,
Series, with a BT, or LO...
Are shootovers and double back dismounts commonly competed at level 8? I ask because historically DD has struggled with bars, but she is doing those skills nicely without spots. No way can she do a pirouette because her kip casts are very sub par. Her free hip is improving and looks like it...
So let me just start this old my saying this really isn't any of my business and I'm really just wonder how it would be done.
There is a girl at my daughters gym who sometimes works in the same group as my eldest daughter. She is 12 I believe. Last summer just before the season started she...
Hello Everyone
I am coaching all of the upper levels at my gym this year. I had a question about the USAG level 8 bars routine (and requirements). I understand all of the requirements, but:
1) The routine requires 4 'A' and 4 'B' skills. Can we replace an 'A' skill with a 'B' skill? (so have 5...
Our region isn't quite done with state meets, but one very interesting development here is that the number of in age Level 8s has crashed. I was thinking our state was an outlier, so I did some poking around, and at least among states that have had their meets, it's not. I guess that's very good...
Last year competed 7, this year 6 (don't know why). Anyways, would these routines sustain being a level 8 (which I am supposed to compete) or should I just go 7 again?
VT:
