Not sure if any of you will know the answer but I'm asking!! As of 2016 I competed level 7. 2017 (this year) I competed level 6. (don't ask why bc idk) As a level 7, I hit the level 8 exit score for all of the meets. Will I be able to compete level 8 in 2018, or will I have to compete level 7 again?
Does anyone know if the State meet for level 8s in Texas is usually a 2 day or 3 day meet? My daughter is almost at the max for days missed from school (she was out for a little over a week with the flu and almost every meet this year has been on friday) so we are really hoping we don't have to...
DS coach said DS needs to through the "level 8 book" and select some skills he wants to add. DS and I have been looking online for the book all morning and cannot find it. Does anyone know what this book is and where we can find it?
Hi! Mom to a new level 8, curious what the state qualifying score is in Texas? And also does qualifying to regionals work the same way level 7 did? Top percentage?
thanks! :)
Would the following floor routine receive any "not up to level" deductions for L8?
The routine assumes that all the dance moves, leaps, turns are a minimum of up to level. I'm mostly interested in the 3 tumbling passes:
Round-off, back handspring, back layout
Front handspring, front layout...
Does anyone know for sure if the Yurchenko timer for Level 8 is a 9.0 start value now? My DDs coach thought it had been changed, and then a judge came in this week and said no it's still a 7.4 SV. Her first meet is this weekend, and she hasn't done a FHS in months. She's flipping the vault onto...
So a couple of us were wondering what camps are recommended by CB community......my son did IGC a few years ago and loved it.....
I have heard mixed things about Flip Fest.....but seems more of a fun camp experience for younger athletes.
Maybe more of a College camp, or good Elite gym camp like...
Hi everyone,
I saw this video the other day of a very talented level 8 gymnast with a stunning beam routine:
I'm not very familiar with JO rules. The routine scored a 9.8, which is awesome, but still I had to wonder whether it is "up to level". The acro connection is a tick-tock to one BHS...
DD has always struggled with bars. She just got her pirouette, but its hit or miss. Her confidence is down (as it is at the beginning of every season). Her coach knows she can do it and so do I. How do I get her to realize she can do it, too?
Transitioning into level 8 and my understanding is that unlike the other levels you don't get the same credit for skill requirements but rather there's start values and bonus points. Can someone help? I'm trying to catch up before the meet season begins and I like to be informed.
A whole new world is opening up this season - Level 8 and the potential (and the goal!) of making it to regionals.
I know in some parts of the country, there is simply a minimum score (such as a 34AA) that a gymnast needs to make it to regionals. Some also have the "Super 8" or similar at the...
DD is training 8. HC had her get the Code of points and pick her skills for routines. She said her beam has these elements is she missing anything? Also will there be deductions for all acro being connected to dismount? I think it goes like this. Mount, full turn, switch leap, wolf or cat jump...
My 9 year old is currently training level 7 and also working level 8 skills. Coach recently had a talk with me that DD will not be able to go any further with level 8 skills because she is unable to touch her toes. Dd has always struggled with flexibility she only got her good leg split about a...
Question about level 8 floor requirements - I haven't coached floor in a few years so I'm not very familiar with requirements. Another coach told me they thought a twisting element was required (back 1/2 or full), but from what I read these are the requirements along with 4 A's and 4 B's:
One...
DD is wanting to make L8 this year, and looks like beam will be the deciding factor. According to her, her bhs on beam are so ugly, she will take more than a point in deduction on them. I don't watch, so can't confirm. Her coach has told her to come up with something else, that will count and be...
In English please :) (meaning I have no clue what the value of things are "A, B,C, D"). I know that you need a series with flight in level eight- like BHS BHS. Do you need a back tuck or no handed skill too? Multiple no handed things in 9? Just curious. ;)
I am very frustrated by the lack of information for this meet. Can anyone help out with answers to the following questions?
1. I saw a map of suggested parking lots, but do we need a visitor parking pass from the campus police?
2. Does anyone know if the venue will be open Thursday for leotard...
