Our gym has never promoted this program. Quite the opposite actually. It has been looked at as a program for cast offs. The kids the coaches are tired of dealing with whether it be fear issues or injuries.
I would like to hear experiences from parents, former or current kids in the program and...

Quick question for those of you familiar with the Aspire program. I understand they've changed age eligibility from Dec 31 of competitive year to Jan 1 of the year in which the competition is held. But when I reference the new program manual (January, 2016), the description of age eligibility...

....I remember starting doing nautilus weights at age 10 for a completely different sport. Currently, my child's gym uses ankle and wrist weights, no free weights, etc, in their conditioning program. My friend's child in a neighboring state uses free weights, but no ankle or wrist weights...no...
The family is moving to Finland (Helsinki) in a few years and was wondering if anyone here has ever done gymnastics in Finland. If so, would it be difficult to try out and make a competitive team? My daughter is on a pre-team right now and hoping to compete level 3 in the fall.
Thanks for...
Just doing a bit of reading on the Aspire Program and was wondering if there was a level equivalent regarding the skills (i.e. level 5 or 6)? I know the description says that it's an introductory program for higher level provincial and HP but I'm not even sure what equates to higher level...
My daughter goes to a noncompetitive gym. Her coach has talked about her possibly competing at Xcel level. I used to coach gymnastics years ago, so much has changed. What would be the steps for a new gym to start competing Xcel? Thanks.
Spin off from another thread. I am wondering what is the "normal" ratio of number of girls team (ish - could include team track, TOPS, etc) to boys team members around the country. I know that in any successful gym the recreational program will be the largest and the place a gym makes the...
For those interested, I just received the temporary version of the Qc provincial program for 2015-2016. It's the french version, but I can help with translation! ;) . There are some changes made so it's closer to the JO program used in the rest of the country. For example, bars requirements are...
A thread in the WAG section got me thinking. All competitions in the USA have the team portion, and i was wondering if anyone knows if that is going to be incorporated into the qualifiers this year?
I know the old Invitational competitions sometimes had them, but now that there will be a level...

I don't know if there are any parents from my gym that have accounts on here so I'll try to keep this as anonymous and broad as possible (crossing fingers).
So...this situation started a few months ago. I coach pre-team and compulsory levels with another coach (we split events) and one day back...
Hello Everyone,
I am trying to build a new training program for my recreational gym. There is so much information all the new coaches need to learn. I would like new coaches to be able to coach a class for 4-6 yr old. after 2 weeks.
Do you all have any advice on building a program and ways to...
I have a little girl that I used to coach who has now moved up to a competition team. She is a very athletic girl and is a very good gymnast. She was level 3 last year and they want her to move up to Xcel next year.
What are some of your experiences with the xcel program? good? bad?
Just a quick question, mostly out or curiosity. Does mobility within the T&T program work the same as in WAG? As in, do they have to get a qualifying score for each level before moving up? Just wondering since Dd is just starting in the program, but is coming into it after being a level 6...
Hello fellow coaches, We are starting a new xcel program that I am in charge of.
I am having trouble finding information online.
1. Where can I find the beam height requirements?
2. Do most gyms have the same song/routines (according to skill level) for each xcel level, or do most gyms give...
DD has expressed an interest in increasing her flexibility this summer. I'm going to be honest and say I don't know how much she will keep this new "resolution" but since flexibility is definitely her weakness, I'm going to try to support it as much as I can.
She has asked one of her coaches...
