Is there any research on how long of a rest period a child's muscles should have before going back at it, for fastest strength gain? Or if no research, do you guys have educated guesses?
Should they be back to 100% before going back at it? Or should they go back at it still sore?
I figured there would be a thousand threads on this topic, but I searched and couldn't really find any. As many of you know, DD (training level 8) broke her foot and hurt her finger on beam a few weeks ago. Her finger is out of the splint and she's back to doing handstands in the living room...
Hi!
So DS had his long arm cast removed Monday. His first impression is that the cast did not do a thing and everything hurt the same! You can imagine what the doctor said....'it will take TIME'.
An injury created over many months will not get better in 1 month...
disclaimer: not asking for medical advice but any anecdotal experience.
DD's friend has a back injury believed to be due to pars defect (spondylolysis w/o slippage) and currently in back brace. Curious if anyone has had a daughter who has recovered from similar injury and made a successful...
Towards the end of September I broke the middle bone in my hand (directly under the middle knuckle) tumbling. I was doing a round off back handspring (easy for me) and according to the doctor and my coach, my fingers bent causing too much force which made my hand break. Well no 8 weeks later, I...
I'm recovering from a broken tibia into the growth plate. I was in Excel Gold and moving to Platinum or 7. I tried to do my splits only to find I couldn't even go half way down! How long will it take to get all my skills back if I lost any? I feel so rusty!!
Thanks!
I'm been off injury for 2 months and so far, so good! I'm doing a whole lot of conditioning, bars, a little bit of beam and a little bit of tumbl trak/floor! I still can't do turns really well though :\ Some back walkovers on beam and basics on floor. I know I need to take it slow but it's so...
So I have seen plenty of girls recover after injuries and mild flu/cold bugs, but I am wondering what to expect from my daughter coming back from a very serious pneumonia. She missed a week of gym which is nothing if you're just doing regular activity and healthy, but she pretty much slept non...
So its been 4 weeks and a couple days since i had surgery and everything is going well as far as i can see. I've been walking without crutches or a brace for a couple weeks now and my knee is feeling like it can hold its own and its feeling a little more normal. It doesn't hurt hardly ever and...
Is anyone familiar with this procedure? My dd needs to get a frenectomy on her upper lip right above her two front teeth. Apparently this thick band of tissue is what causes her two front teeth to have a large gap and once the braces come off the gap will open back up if this procedure is not...
Dear All:
My 11 year old is a level 6 gymnast. She took 2nd last year at state last spring in her age group in level 5. Since then, she has had her appendix removed in July and then just recently broke her arm about a month ago. Its been a long haul but she loves the sport. She was in a...
Crap! DD had her big toenail almost entirely ripped off at practice today from an unfriendly door at the gym... spent the aft at the hospital emergency, now she's had it drained & sporting a cast-boot. She's really hoping she'll be OK to compete at least one event for Gymnix on Thursday...
I guess not so much for good luck, but "get well vibes", I sprained my ankle and if I take good care of it and the doctor gives me the okay I can compete in my last meet of the season. I really, really hope it heals well quickly! If the doctor says no though...yeah, I'm not going to hurt it more...
