Is it worth it for my dd to test TOPs once or twice if she's not going to be competitive within her age group? She would be in the 8 year old group. Her gym isn't that committed to TOPs, although they consistently work on the physical abilities as part of their workouts. Her coach said she can...
When the girls do multiple tests do they use their best score on each thing regardless of which test they got it at? For example lets say the kids best rope climb and handstand hold is at test #1, but their best splits and presses were at test #2. Or do they just take the overall score at each...
Hi everyone, I am curious what it takes to make it past the state testing to the the national TOPS test? Do the girls have to basically max out all abilities? Thanks!
2013 TOPS Nat'l testing info has been posted on USAG website. Only change I noticed had to do with testing of kicks in flexibility but I have no idea what that is...Good luck to all the TOPS testers as your babies prep for this next stretch of preperation.
Who will be testing this year from CB...
I have a question for coaches (if it is ok to post in here) I have posted this in the parent forum as well but wanted to post in here as I don't know how many coaches read the proud parent forums.
My dd is 6 and in rec gymnastics ( been there a year). At my dd 's last session they did something...
There seems to be some confusion among the gym management at DD's gym as to when the deadline is for testing out using current routines. There are a number of girls that are going to do current 6 before the changes, but various contacts at the state committee have given either "I don't know"...
What benefits are there to starting TOPS testing early on, i.e., right at 7 yrs old? Do the girls get to skip levels? My daughter just turned 6, level 3/4, and I notice they are regularly working some of the TOPS type skills, i.e., working on holding handstand 30 seconds, press handstands, leg...
My soon to be 10 year old wants to test this year. We have her doiing Push Ups, Pull Ups, Vup's, stretching, flexabilty exercises.. What else should she be doing.
Hi I am fairly new to the gymnastics world. My daughter started competitive at age of 8 years. She was mainly a dancer before..her coach (a great one) trained her at level 5 right away...she is now level 6 and doing really well.
We recently moved to another state and her new coach is...
What is Physical norms testing?
In my dd's gym there is a poster about the British Gymnastics Proficiency Badge Awards and on the bottom it says that during badge week the are testing physical norms. What is this and what is its purpose? This is something that is printed on the poster and not...
Anyone hear about test results from national TOPs testing? Our gym had several gymnast go including my 10 yr old dd. Our coaches say it will be a while because of the changes made to the program.
Can anyone enlighten me about the new state skills scorin gfor TOPs? My dd tested twice this year and will test for her third and final time this weekend as a 10 yr old. She tested a 22 out of 24 on bars, and has done relatively well as far as skills are concerned, however, I am a little...
Just a quick question - for State TOPS testing, do you all find out what your daughter's scores were (how many points, etc)?
Our gym says they won't tell us so we shouldn't ask - but I don't think that's right! Don't we have a right to know how they did?
This is my daughters first year doing...
Hello, I am new to this site and was wondering about the scoring for the state TOPs testing? I know it changed since last year since they added the skills at the state level, but I have no idea how the scoring will go?
Any thoughts on the changes to TOPS testing? I'm interested particularly in thoughts on the skill and skill combination testing. And if your child is in a "TOPS program" are you aware of the changes.
Have all coaches been notified of the results or just those that made A team? We haven't heard anything yet but our coach is in Japan. I know she is checking her email. I have know idea what my daughter's scored as she only knows her score on a couple events.
ok so as I sit here and (not so ) patiently await the results a couple of questions.. does anyone know what the cut off was for 8 year olds on team a and b last year? also how do they figure out the adjusted score? also what percent is skills/abilities for 8 year olds?
