I have two questions:
Is a double back (tucked) on floor a C or D?
Also, for my doubles, I've realized that my ankles aren't as strong as I'd like them to be on my landings. Any good ankle conditioning suggestions (or conditioning that would help make landing less painful)?
Thanks!
I have an eight year old Level 4 who does atrocious back handsprings - she throws her head way out to complete them. I have tried having her put foam under her chin, bite her leo, etc…but nothing has worked. I have tried spotting her through it heavily and reinforcing the head position, but she...
Pea has always run toe out, walks perfectly straight but as soon as she runs her toes point out. She's been good up until this point to keep her toes pointed and straight. But I happened to get to pick up a bit early last week and was watching her do layouts. My point of view was from behind...

Hi so my problem is that my tumbling is really slow and I don't use the bounce in the floor so I'm just doing standing tumbling almost. My round off back handspring is really good, and same with FHS (rebound like two feet in the air) but as soon as I throw a salto in there, I start to bend my...

New skills and series are coming much slower than in the past so DD was very happy to share with me a new series on the floor that she's been landing consistently the past couple of days. She has a pretty lovely (to my eyes) FHS FLO FLO. She said that sometimes her second FLO isn't as high as...

Thoughts ?
I am quietly cringing but P&F is looking forward to watching them face-plant
So, apparently, D tumbles on his heels. i think it is all related to his posture, still quite a bit of an arch in his back. I think that makes him be farther back on his heels rather than his toes.
Is there anything he can do to work on this? He tumbles quite well for being on his heels...
In case anyone is interested, I was able to tape the full senior men's tumbling final. Excuse the lousy phone-quality video and editing. It looks better on my phone - YouTube really seemed to downgrade it when I uploaded.
My daughter is training level 8. She is not a super-fast runner and apparently, not a very fast flipper. She can do double backs off bars onto a mat in the pit ok, but when she does double backs on floor into the pit, or on the tumble trak, it looks like she is going in slow motion. Even her...
Coaches, do you allow your gymnasts to practice and tumble with a cast? I have seen plenty of kids at my dd's gym tumble on the floor with casts on their arms and work on beam. Personally, I think it is dangerous and could lead to yet another injury. Wondering if it is common. Parents, do you...
My coach wants me to begin tumbling out of roundoffs (which I have never done) instead of roundoff back handspring.
I had some problems with chin throwing and not setting for the BT which are two issues I've never had when tumbling out of ROBHS- I think I'm throwing the back tuck like a back...
I coach 2 cheer tumbling classes a week (no tramp, so only floor tumbling) and am getting pretty bored with all the "same old" stuff. It's not a particularly advanced group, I think one girl can do ro-bhsx2, but the vast majority do not have a bhs at all. It's lots of floor basics, round off...
My daughter (age 6) is anxious to learn more tumbling than they are doing on her pre team. We have the option to do private lessons at a cheer gym or a class at a dance studio. I know most moms on this board are wary of cheer tumbling -would a dance studio be a better option or should we skip...
Im thinking about swapping out one pass for another and need advice:
Current 2 tumbling passes in routine:
1st pass:Roundoff, flip flop, full
2nd pass: front pike, front tuck
(The 2nd pass is clean but the front tuck finishes a little low)
Routine scores normally around a 9.0
Its a short...
A level 4 gymnast scared of back tumbling for the past two practices. The first day yesterday she had one turn left and didn't go for RO 2 BHS. I spotted it. Today I spotted one and she did all but a couple but from only a step hurdle. Just want to make sure I approach it the right way since it...
