2010 Youth Olympic Games.

Hi guys,

I'm all the way here in singapore where the 2010 youth olympics are being held. i was really surprised to find out that there aren't any women artistic gymnasts representing the USA!! how is that so?

and i couldn't find any thread discussing the youth olympics here.

as of now, the all-around, vault and uneven bars gold medalist is Viktoria Komova from russia.

Wow! I wish I could be there!
The USA didn't send a female gymnast because of a clause in the rules that said each country could send two gymnasts, one male and one female athelete, but only one coach! So the US decided to send only a male gymnast (Jesse Glenn, I think?) with his coach. The YOG later changed that rule but we still didn't send a female gymnast.
I saw Komova's vault on youtube - I can't believe such a tiny thing can do an Amanar!

There was a stupid rule that each nation only got one coach for WG and MG. It was changed due to complaints, but by that stage the US had declined entry. The fact that it was so close to US nationals probably factored into the decision.
