Son (UK based)

2016 - 2020: Local drop-in for a hour or 2 a week
Feb 2020: Sent for trial at regional centre
Mar 2020: Learning gymnastics over Zoom
2021: Pre-pre level 1. Displays rather than comps
2022: Pre-level 1. Local comps
2023: Level 1. Regional comps, national gradings (Club level)
2024: Level 2. Plan is to enter him at 'elite' (not called that any more) at the nationals...

Fortunately he loves it, which you need to if you're doing 20+ hours a week at 9yo, I suppose.

I'm new here and just trying to learn something about gymnastics since my daughter LOVES it. My daughter (4) has been doing rec gymnastics for 2 years. She wasn't progressing at the gym we were at since they only focused on teams and the rec program was lacking with poor instruction. We had an opportunity to join another gym and she was evaluated for their pre-pre-team program and was invited to join. I'm just excited to support her as long as she is interested in it and having fun.

I started at a very optional oriented gym in a small town in NC. I was advanced rec until I moved to Texas. Once I moved to Texas,

Level 1- 9
Level 2- 10
Level 3- 11
SWITCH GYMS
Gold- 12
Platinum-13
SWITCH GYMS
Train Level 7 over summer
SWITCH GYMS BC OF TOXIC CULTURE
Platinum- 14
(and finally happy doing gymnastics!)

We're still early on to this, but my son (Feb birthday):
Parent/tot and preschool 18 months-5 years
rec class: 5-6 years
preteam/3d1: 6/7 years old
moved gyms when boys program closed
4d2: 7/8 years old
4d1: 8 (will be 9 in a little over a week) years old

My daughter is 5, and started in parent/tot at 17 months, did preschool rec until this past September, and currently does a rec class. She wants to be on team like her brother, but is definitely behind maturity-wise where he was at her age. She's still learning that rules apply to her, too (insert major eye roll). My wild child for sure.

Ok, i started late, but here it is.

18mos-4:preschool classes
4-8-quit to do ballet
8- Lvl 1 Rec
9-10-Lvl 2 rec
11-Lvl 3 rec

8-10 Rec
10 Level 3
11 Xcel Silver
12 Xcel Gold
13 Xcel Gold
14 Xcel Gold
15 Xcel Platinum
16 Xcel Diamond

I quit gymnastics around level 3 but I can show my cousins progression
mom/tot classes - 18m-2
advanced toddler - 2-4
preteam - 5/6
level 3 - 6
level 4 - 7
tested out of 5 and skipped 6
level 7 - 8
level 8 - 9
level 9 - 10
level 10 - 11-13
qualified for elite - 14

she is VERY good and has been since she started. She is above average so if your path does not look like hers it is ok

7 - preteam
8 - Silver
9 - Gold
10 - L4 score out, then L5 (hated it) back to Gold for a season
11 - L6, then gym closed unexpectedly
11 part 2 - Platinum at new gym

Plan is L7 next year but obviously, things don't go to plan very much in gymnastics

5-6: rec
7 pre team
8 excel bronze
9 excel silver
10 - 11 level 4 (I repeated it)
12-13 level 6 (this coming season I will be a six)

Goals: get over mental blocks so that I can enjoy the sport more. I’m really just beating myself up about being scared of things I feel like I should be doing. I mostly just want to minimize my fears so that it doesn’t ruin gymnastics for me, because I love is so much and I wouldn’t want to quit because of fear and mental blocks.

See this resurrected post. Posting as someone might find this helpful.

USAG
Pre-team - 5
Level 3 - 6
Covid *
Upskill/Train - 7
Level 6 - 8
Level 7 - 9
Level 8 - 10
Quit - 11

Goal: find another sport.

Leveling up at young age is tough on the lifestyle.

Older DD
preteam - preschool
XB - kindergarten
XS - 1st grade
Level 4 - 2nd grade
Level 5 and 6 - 3rd grade
Level 7 - 4th grade, but only did two meets because of broken shoulder to start and cut short by COVID
Level 7 repeated - 5th grade
Level 8 - 6th grade, tested out with plan to try and do level 9, but instead she retired!
ETA Goals! She wanted to be a D1 gymnast, hopefully in the southest. She has kept the collegiate drive in her sports, which is cool. To be a D1 diver (or volleyball player, but she's pretty short, so maybe as a libero or DS!)

Younger DD
preteam - preschool
XB - kindergarten
XS - 1st grade
XS - 2nd grade (only two meets bc COVID and then gym didn't bring the littles back when they re-opened forever!
XG - 3rd grade
Level 4 - tested out 3rd grade
XG - 4th grade
Level 5 - tested out 4th grade
Level 6/7 - 5th grade (this season...will do at least 1-2 meets as an L6, and then may finish as an L7 based on how she is registered. I'm hoping she just does the whole season as a 6.)
Goals: She says college gym and names D1 programs she would want, but she does not actually show a lot of interest in watching college or elite gym at all, so who knows! She is a happy pretty free-spirited kid, so she'll go where the wind blows and always find a happy place to land.
