Women Andrea Li

Anyone know why Andrea Li didn't choose to go the Elite route like her sister Anna Li? both parents were also olympian..

She definitely has that "international look" but also amazingly powerful.. she looks like she would do extremely well in the international scene. Absolutely dominating the JO scene scoring 38s/39s any winning almost every meet.

At any rate - glad she's committed to Cal - go Bears!

I think they said during the commentary at Nastia Liukin Cup that she just chose not to do elite....maybe she didn't want the insane time commitment?

Andrea's sister is her current coach, not her parents. Assuming that the sister is the only coach, perhaps it is not enough. Are the parents not involved? She is a great gymnast indeed.

She basically trains as much as an elite gymnast...

Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 12:30 – 7 p.m., Tuesdays 2 – 6 p.m, Thursday 12:30-6 p.m., and Saturday 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

that makes sense. Thank you. During Nastia's Cup only sister was present and talked about as Andrea's coach.

I imagine after watching her sister go through elite she decided there were better paths to take.

The parents are very active coaches at Legacy Elite. Lots of kids/levels to coach, so probably only Anna was available to travel to Nastia.

Anna often travels to the ranch as well and is a Brevet judge. She may be the designated travel coach, while her parents coach and run the gym.

With all her success, why does she need it? Alex McMurtry probably could've done elite but she did as Li is doing ...dominated JO, and is now doing quite nicely at Florida kicking butt there...elite is not the be all end all and Li has probably seen enough to realize that.
