I think the number one progression would be Inverted candle hangs!

Basically count to ten while helping support weight by spotting shoulders, this is a great shaping tool and can be fun once theyre able to do themselves.
They start in front support then tell them to squeeze super tight and drop their shoulders, then you can slowly bring them into this position, eventually you can turn it into fully pushing around the bar (like a full back hip circle just not from a cast!)

when spotting the actual back hip circle from a cast you can support their legs and lower back , make sure they know to push down on the bar at the end of their bhc so they dont go crazy off the bar, knowing they can control it is super helpful as well.

A huuuuge important thing is making sure they have a good understanding of a hollow body position!!

yeah I've been working candlesticks with them, but they can't do them on their own yet. They only get 10 mins a week per event anyways so it makes sense. I will try starting from front support to candlestick, that seems helpful.
