Help. Ours are awful. Out of 9 Level 3s, I only have 1 that does a really good one.

Looking at other teams versus my team leads me to believe it's a coaching problem. These kids are good at most other things, so I'm missing something in teaching them these. We've done them down the cheese mats.

Any hints/drills/etc.?

Spot them to shape, locked elbows. Also roll off of panel mat, lose the cheese mat.

This skill annoys me too. While my kids are okay at them, and some exceptional, they have all done it with straight arms but will bend when doing routines to the music.

I believe it is all in the shoulders. Yes squeezing the elbows is important, but you can't have straight arms if you don't use your shoulders.

I found it helps to have a strong hollow position. It also helped for my coaches to tell me to "try and get my knees to my nose" and go straight back.
