I'm going into level 8 this year and I'm struggling with bars a little. I was wondering if I don't get my pirouette by the beginning of the season and compete a level 7 bar routine with a clear hip a little above horizontal, a cast almost to vertical on the high bar and 2 giants what my start value would be? One of my coaches said it would be an 8.2 because I wouldn't have enough Bs, but if I get credit for my cast wouldn't it be a 9.5 or a 9.0? Thanks!

Assuming you get credit for the free-hip and the cast, your start value should be 9.5. Your free-hip, cast hand, and both giants meet the requirement for four Bs. The only special requirement you're missing is a pirouette or flight skill. Good luck on your pirouette!

If it's just like you described, deductions start from 9.5. Granted your deductions may end up looking like your SV was 8.2 if you're sloppy.
