I always thought there was a deduction for the coach entering the floor....

Only in optionals. In compulsories, there is no deduction if the coach doesn't touch her.

My DD lost 0.5 for her coach entering her routine in HOPES last year. Not to spot, wasn't even close to DD, putting out a mat they forgot......

Yes, that would be a deduction, especially in HOPES. But I think they have changed it again in JO that if a coach is placing or removing a mat in an optional floor routine, there is now no deduction for that. I could be wrong, but I think it was an update this past year.
