States qualifying? Zones?

So 5 & 6 are done in December? Do they then switch levels, uptrain or just do the invitationals? With such a short season I am curious as to what they strive for after Dec.

In CT (Region 6) we have States twice a year. A smaller number of gyms compete in the fall but the rules are standard regardless of season -

L4 -L6 can qualify at any meet with a 31 AA.
L7 - L10 need 32 AA

Regionals begins with L8. They take the top 7 girls from 3 age groups
L9 & 10 need 34 AA

My daughter was on the fence to compete L6 this fall and kept a 5. She only has 3 meets before states in the fall so coaches do not like to move girls for such a short season. She will compete 6 in January. She has been working on L6 since August so it is not a big leap.

However, optionals only compete in the Spring. States are held in March.

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
