Apparently my gym is an extreme outlier bc level 3s practice 4 hours a week only...now I'm starting to worry. My daughter will turn 9 later this year. I'm curious how many hours other gymnasts of a similar age are training? As a parent, I am trying to balance her love of gym and desire to progress/compete with overtraining/injuries.
My YMCA gym has L2-L8 and Xcel Gold-Platinum. They go 7.5 hours a week.Apparently my gym is an extreme outlier bc level 3s practice 4 hours a week only...now I'm starting to worry.
My sons the same age and he does 3.5 hours gymnastics per week. He would go more, but at this age I think having other sports too keeps the balance so he does the same again in other specific sports + 2hrs of PEMy daughter will turn 9 later this year. It depends on the level your daughter is at.... My daughter is upper optionals and has been training 25 hours a week in summer since she was 8 or 9...and 20 hours during school hours. When she was in compulsories it was still 20-25 in summer, but around 12-16 during the school year. She usually asks to go early still, they aren't honestly training full speed the whole time they are there, lots of waiting around and goofing off with friends. My daughter will turn 9 later this year.
